Clock your tone. Be capable of a convo without being condescending. Thanks."
In the "LuPone on McDonald" thread you literally said this to another poster: "Honey, please keep talking, the lack of education is proving itself. You’re not even worth a debate." And now you're asking others to be less condescending?
Forgive my slight frustration and surprise that someone who can talk like this to others here seems to genuinely wonder why Jonathan Groff might have been picked over Jasmine to perform at the Tonys. However, at the very least of course I will and did the courtesy to explain why in a sincere way if it was a genuine question.
“Weird axe to grind.”
Yes…it is weird to invest this much energy into a show that is making 7 cents with 3 nominations.

Very sweet. You'll have much pushback, sadly. There's a group of negative Nellie's here drooling over the closure date of Boop. Having a fun delightful show on Broadway is an outrage to them. I'd love to see Boop on the Tony's but it's not in the cards. Hopefully it will go on tour across the US soon.

Got it. So your argument is that we should base what shows we enjoy and support based on revenue?
Shows like the Tony Awards change until the very last minute...but seems silly to think a petition done less than a week out is going to warrant real change.
I hope I'm wrong.

Interesting point this article brings up is why was Real Women Have Curves - which only has two nominations approved to perform over Boop - which has 3 nominations - including Best Actress? Just in Time makes sense because they have 6 nominations and Jonathan Groff. And honestly - I would rather watch a big splashy dance number from Boop rather than an out of context number from Real Women Have Curves - but that's just my opinion.

I'm a little surprised RWHC is actually perfoming tbh. I wonder how much money producers have put to perform? The show has been hemorrhaging money for months, even giving away tickets to the latin american community and now a Tony performance? I don't get where all that money is coming from...

Barry and Fran Weissler are the producers. They produced CHICAGO. 'Nuff said.

The Tony admins literally turned down $300k each from BOOP & SMASH to not let them perform for about 2 minutes. Insane.
That petition claims that the Tonys should celebrate, elevate, and amplify the best of Broadway, yet they credit only the composer, not the lyricist (the lyricist who’s the sole woman on the creative team)?

That's fair and a mistake on my part. So I'll take accountability.
This is a 3ish hour broadcast that has already jettisoned a number of awards out of the main show. Sure, there are definitely things that could and should get cut, but it's also just not practical or feasible to give every nominated performer a number to showcase them.

IIRC, Joe Iconis said that when Be More Chill was on Broadway, the team approached the Tonys for a performance and got turned down. It would've been "Michael in the Bathroom" - one actor on stage and the most popular song in the show - and then he was upset when the number ended up getting turned into a parody sung by James Corden, Josh Groban, and Sara Bareilles, with no credit given during the broadcast to the show. In that case, the show was nominated for even less - the only nom was Iconis for Best Score - but the setup would've been cheaper than the average number, for both the Tonys and for BMC, since it was only one actor and a minimal set.
Semi-unrelated, but have they announced who's performing the In Memoriam? If not, that could be a sweet way of letting her perform without shoehorning in an abridged version of a number like they did with Stereophonic last year. (Side note: between Creel, Finn, and Strouse, I'm kinda dreading the In Memoriam this year - this was a rough one for Broadway.)

I have a feeling Broadway Inspirational Voices will do the In Memoriam
The Tonys will never have enough time to showcase everything with a major nomination that is still running. I truly don't understand why this is a controversy. They have turned down offers before. They are producing an awards show. They have to have time to give out the awards too. And the $300k-ish is meant to cover the expenses of each individual show's performance, it's not something the Tonys make money on. They didn't "turn down $300k in profits."
That said, what if they had two extra slots and JIT is a duh, and then they chose RWHC...because they have America Ferrera on board to present it?

Pot calling the kettle black.
I must admit, I find it a little bit sweet and endearing that Boop appears to have its fans who will do things like create this petition or generate buzz that Jasmine might win over Audra and Nicole (and I mean this sincerely not condescendingly or anything because I actually really want to see the show and Jasmine - and I know this might be sacrilegious to say but I find "Where I wanna be" and "Something to shout about" far more interesting than anything in the 'Maybe Happy Ending' score). Lempicka also had its fans. II look at a show like Redwood where not a single person here appeared to even go to the final performance despite Idina and it feels...sad.

It seems logical to me: Real Women Have Curves (like Paradise Square) was nominated for Best Score. That seems relevant, as it was the main justification for pushing for Stereophonic to have a slot last year.

I believe Lin and his father have $$$ in RWHC

That's the rumor floating around tiktok. Lin has been the angel investor keeping RWHC open, and used the Hamilton Reunion as a bartering chip to get RWHC the slot, and in doing so it also gave Just In Time a slot, as you wouldn't have Jonathan Groff just perform in Hamilton, when he is Tony nominated in a different production the same season.

That all actually tracks a lot...
That just sounds like the very common and often incorrect conspiratorial thread-pulling that regularly happens on social media about any number of topics.
Of course Hamilton was going to perform at the Tonys on its 10th anniversary.
Of course beloved star who is leading a hit show Jonathan Groff was going to perform.
And RWHC was nominated in a category that has in recent years become associated with a performance slot.
Why would Lin need to be secretly keeping a show that he's not otherwise involved with afloat and use it as a bargaining chip to get two obvious things to happen?

Not the night we saw it in the orchestra.
Is Jasmine the only Best Actor/Actress in a Musical performer NOT performing? I haven't cross-checked. If she's not the only one, this argument is COMPLETELY moot.
If she is the only one, it makes it feel icky and unfair, but again, that's the way the cookie crumbles. Sometimes there are great performances in subpar shows. It's not deeper than that.
