By the looks of social media; it looks like the Hamilton cast in San Francisco will now have the weekend off.

I can't quite explain why, but DAME's "Good for you honey" made me laugh out loud in real life.
Don't you wish IflitIfloat were still with us because she would have advised us on best practices in this time of great difficulty?

People really need to calm down. More people have the flu right now than this. I'm hoping these "experts" are correct in saying it'll only be a seasonal virus and that by the end of April this should be done with. People can start to panic when this starts reaching bigger numbers. But as of now, everyone should be conducting business as usual and WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS!

Good for you honey . I have two friends in Italy going thru hell right now and know one of the ill in Westchester. We don’t know anything .. but it certainly ain’t worth a broadway show to me . It’s about being careful and cautious."
I'm sorry to hear that. I am very careful and cautious.

Has there been any history of Broadway closing because of a health scare?

I might have to cancel my trip in two weeks. I'm not prone to overreaction, but I have cystic fibrosis and my lungs are in bad enough shape that I'm not sure it's worth the risk. Really I'm more concerned about the plane ride and being in the airport. Hopefully I'll be able to get refunds or reschedule the shows I already have tickets for

I’m trying to decide if I should cancel my trip at the end of this month. I have asthma, and two parents with cancer (not traveling with me, but I worry about getting them sick). We are taking the train there, and have tickets for five shows and a concert at MSG. My hotel and train are cancellable, but I don’t know what to do about the show tickets.

If this is any indication- I booked 6 shows in London during March 11-15- and all 6 refunded my entire money- I did not have to get any rain checks for future performances- the entire cost of each ticket- minus service fees of a very modest amount- for a few of the shows- I would expect NY BWAY shows to do the same.

My reaction, as a level headed mature person, is to carry on as normal. I have always known how to and so do wash my hands correctly and when necessary.
Until I am told officially to stay at home or I have contacted the virus then it's business as usual and on with the show.
I have been down the death path twice so if it gets me with this, I'm ready.

We are seeing The Minutes, Company and Six next weekend. I’m more worried about Amtrak cancelling the train from
Harrisburg than the shows being cancelled.

WASH YOUR HANDS LIKE VELMA KELLY AFTER SHE CAUGHT VERONICA AND CHARLIE DOING NUMBER 17!
That should be the message sent out through the CDC to all theatre nerds.

We take the same line then because I go from Philly to NYC at least twice a month. We might even be in the same car next weekend! I’m more afraid they’ll cancel our home train because I’ve heard they’re not running as many trains at the moment.

I’m supposed to see Hangmen on 4/4 and To Kill A Mockingbird on 3/21. TKAM they exchanged and I’m now seeing the first weekend in September. No problem there. But Hangmen, the customer agent said that they’ll request a refund for me. She said that if a refund is not approved (I guess by the box office?), then they’ll call me.

Amtrak suspends nonstop DC-NYC Acela service as virus fears slash demand
Amtrak will cancel its nonstop Acela service between D.C. and New York City through late May, citing tumbling demand as the U.S. eyes a wide-scale coronavirus outbreak.
In a news release announcing the suspension, Amtrak said other changes — such as reducing cars, altering schedules or cancelling more train services — are possible during the next weeks as the operator grapples with reduced demand from other locales.

As someone said above, declaring a state of emergency allows them to get federal funding and is not an actual indicator they’re about to shut everything down. It seems like theaters are taking proactive measures (hand sanitizers, stopping stage doors and backstage guests). Right now, we are planning on things going forward as scheduled, and we’ll adjust as needed. If things are forcibly shut down, I’m sure theaters will work with patrons as far as refunds or exchanges are concerned."
The cast of the Hello, Dolly! tour tonight confirmed that they're no longer allowed to stage door or bring guests backstage until further notice; it sounded like this was going to be an industry-wide event, so possibly coming from Equity? The show still went on as scheduled, though, which was great!

I acknowledge that humans are reactive by nature, but never understood why they prefer to wait until things go awfully downhill than to be overly cautious.
There are several resources available to you if you get the flu; and in most cases up to you how to handle a flu. There is nothing so far that can save you from a bad case of this virus, you really want everyone to chill and wait to panic until everyone has it?

In San Francisco, the New Conservatory Theatre will closed through March 21, at least, because it is city-owned and the city has banned all large gatherings in its buildings.
It’s not my biggest concern about this virus, but I am increasingly concerned that theater is going to suffer for a while. I had been planning to see several shows later this month in the San Francisco Bay Area, but my inclination now is to stay home.
There are social interactions and contact I can’t avoid in life. Theater is optional, and by definition involves a lot of close contact with strangers. It makes me sad, as I had been looking forward to the shows, and sorry for the performers and theater companies.
I am certainly not inclined to plan a New York City trip.

This statement might be true for an extremely limited segment of the population, namely elderly with other underlying respiratory conditions or others with extremely compromised immune systems.
But no information so far from the WHO or other reputable agencies have suggested that it is an illness from which the vast majority of the public would not recover. Saying "there is nothing that can save you" is really alarmist given the facts.

Flying up from Orlando to see friends and family, I have 13 shows planned between March 22 and 29. Hoping things go on as usual.
