Why can't people have names like Mary Martin or Ethel Merman and, for that matter, talent like theirs?

There are like 4 ways to say it
re: Broadway names pronunciation#128
Posted: 5/21/06 at 12:20pmIt's definitely pronounced Am-Nair-Ez. I haven't heard it any other way.

sorry if this is really obvious, but:
Lauren Molina, is it Mo-Line-Ah or Mo-Leen-Ah?

Posted: 5/21/06 at 3:27pmNot Broadway actor related, but character: Enjolras? I've always pronounced it "On-johl-ross" but I'm not sure if that's correct.

A name that I always pronounced incorrectly was Lithgow. I've always heard Lith-GOW like cow, but on the DRS CR, he says Lith-GO.

I would think of his name in terms of how you say "Glasgow." Glaz-GOH. Lith-GOH.
And Dirty Rotten, I'd like to know that too. I think it's OHN-johl-rah, but I'm not sure.

re: Broadway names pronunciation#137
Posted: 5/22/06 at 3:51pmI'm guessing that it's probably how he pronounced it. I've always said it Rye-chard, but it would appear I was wrong. Good to know.

That's correct. And if you really want to check, listen to the Paris revival cast recording. You can hear Feuilly yell it.

Not sure if I ever got an answer to this question. . .
but how do you pronounce "Headley" (as in Heather). I've heard it as "heed-ly" and "head-ly". Anyone know?
Another silly one, but would you just "Lay-ah" or "Lee-ah" Salonga. Once again, I've heard both.

All the interviews I have of Lea Salonga on Filipino TV pronounce it lay-ah. I would go with their pronuncation above all others.

Bump
Manoel Felciano - Fell-chee-ah-no? Fell-see-ah-no?
Michael Berresse - Buh-RESS-ee? BEAR-uh-see? Buh-RESS?
Charlotte D'Amboise - D-ambwah? D-ambwahz?
If I just lay here

D'Amboise is the second way, D-ambwahz.
I wonder about Berresse too. I always say buh-RESS but I don't know if that's right.
