Can anyone explain how the shows are paired up? I mean, bummer that it's WEST SIDE STORY vs PIPPIN when really, both should have made it to the final rounds...

Seems like there are a lot of tweens voting and skewing the results.
Don't forget Les Mis won the last bracket. The snobs (I count myself as one) get outvoted and there's a strong recency bias. Frozen easily beating Caroline, or Change hurts my heart. How are Funny Girl and Mean Girls even close?

Pathetic. Time for those of us over the age of 16 to start voting again with different email addresses!"
Pathetic and appalling. I'm surprised and pleased that Ragtime and Great Comet are tied, although I suspect Ragtime will take over soon (not my choice). Dreamgirls losing to Matilda? Heresy.
My first dose of cyanide did not work when Aladdin beat Follies in the previous round. I will have to take a double dose now because Aladdin is beating my favorite musical of all time Chicago 75 vs 25. WTF?

Probably only 4 people had voted at that point. I feel like the Disney shows are getting a boost from the movies as much as the stage shows but interestingly most of these shows have movie adaptations or pro-shots... which just returns to the voting skewing young.
Gypsy, West Side Story, Follies, Dreamgirls, Ragtime, Pippin, Sunday in the Park With George, Parade all eliminated. But thank God we still have Beauty and the Beast and Newsies. <smh>

Yep --- looks like this poll was dominated by 14 year old girls.

No kidding! I guess we should be relieved Chicago is still even in the running.
From a musical perspective, West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein is a masterpiece because of the musical unity throughout the entire score. This musical exhibits the best elements that all musicals contain, and it has become a classic in the musical theater repertoire.
