Something I hadn’t thought about before that Kate Shindle Twitter thread, are there “understudies” for Stage Managers and ASMs? If an stage manager ends up coming down Covid-19, just losing that one person could likely end up canceling the whole show.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Stage managers normally have substitutes who can cover for them, although it depends on where in the timeline of the production a show is. They're often not trained until after opening, although it depends on the show.

Isn't he leaving the first week in January? Seems like he's basically done.

Yes they have subs. Also the whole SM usually rotates in their jobs (so everyone can call the show, run the deck, etc.), so if one goes down, the others can cover, and then also bring in a sub. But that doesn't factor in that if one SM tests positive, the others are close contacts.

Yes Jeremy Jordan has 3 weeks left. It seems he will be out for two of them.

I just got back from the Book of Mormon matinee. Whatever they are doing, they’re doing right. Every principal actor performed with just one swing in.

I know Wicked had to cancel recently, but they also seem to be doing something right—last night they only performed with one swing and two understudies (for Madame Morrible and the midwife).
Lindsay Pearce was absolutely amazing, btw. Knew her from Glee/Glee Project and was worried we wouldn’t see her bc of her injury but she really was firing on all cylinders last night.
regionally, the Broadway San Francisco production of A Christmas Carol cancelled both matinee and evening performances today due to breakthrough COVID cases.
Girl from the North Country hasn’t canceled although Winngham was out last week, as were two male actors for some performances. I’m not labeling the outs as COVID related, only noting their occurrence during this precarious pre holiday era.

Mrs. Doubtfire's assistant choreographer, Michaeljon Slinger, jumped into the show tonight. Hopefully they don't shut down again.

Yep. I am here. There are 3 new swings tonight."
Curious who the additional swings are? Would you mind sharing (after the show). Have they hired a standby yet for McClure?
