Now that rehearsals have started, the Oracle has effectively confirmed that Isaac Powell is Jay Gatsby, Ben Levi Ross is Nick, and Australian newcomer Charlotte MacInnes has been cast as Daisy, with Solea Pfeiffer presumed to be playing Myrtle.

Solea Pfeiffer as Myrtle? She seems far more like a Jordan, both in her type and her career track so far. Myrtle is second-tier supporting character whose purpose is to die and drive the plot forward.

Let's not give the "Oracle" any credit. He's been constantly wrong about casting for this production over the last few months. Now that there's a publicly available picture of the cast watching the eclipse on a break from their 1st rehearsal, he scours the photo and acts as though he has a scoop. Nonsense.

I was simply crediting him with the information that I was passing along. No reason to be so touchy about it, and I highly doubt he came up with Charlotte MacInnes from that photo, considering nobody knows who she is.

We have no idea what this Gatsby will be like yet. Maybe they're completely changing the focus. Who knows...

That could be true, and if Pfeiffer is confirmed as Myrtle it would certainly give evidence to this being a very different take on the material. But I would be surprised, if she is indeed involved, if she is not Jordan.

Solea is Myrtle. The show has shifted focus and the role now is more of a co-lead with Daisy.

Interesting that both musical versions cast boyish tenors (and Tonys in the two most recent WSS revivals) in the title role.

The cast includes IsaacPowell (Gatsby), Charlotte MacInnes (Daisy), Ben Levi Ross (Nick), Cory Jeacoma (Tom), Eleri Ward(Jordan), Solea Pfeiffer (Myrtle), Matthew Amira(Wilson), and Adam Grupper (Wolfsheim). The ensemble includes Nick Bailey, Kailey Boyle, Runako Campbell, Jada Clark, Joshua Grosso, Alex Haquia, Gabriel Hyman, Matt Kizer, Lorenzo Pagano, Christopher Ralph, Christopher M. Ramirez, Shea Renne, Aliza Russell, Shota Sekiguchi, and Maya Sistruck. Cameron Burke, Jacob Burns, Mia DeWeese, Paige Krumbach, and Justin Gregory Lopez are swings. Sam Simahk is the standby for Gatsby.

Why does it matter that Sweaty was correct? I'm sorry but you're not too smart if you rely on some rando instead of waiting for official announcements. People are just too impatient and must know before everyone else. Like- get over yourselves.

This casting doesn’t seem to excite me. I know quite a few people who auditioned for this who were older than the actors they cast (Wolfsheim aside), so I’m wondering when they decided on this younger approach.

There is such a thing as being a well-connected figure in this industry who people have been privately leaking stuff to for years now…
