https://t.co/QqsPK009aC I guess this is why he's leaving! Yay for Daveed! I'm sure he'll be wonderful (and he gets to work with Jacob Tremblay, which is a win in my book, that kid is so cute!)

So happy for him. 8 shows a week has to be quite a grind. With tv and film he will make more $. Schedule probably won't be as hectic either with tv and film.
Looks like he is gonna be fine.

I didn't even read through the article yet really, but I just saw Daveed's name and Jacob Tremblay's name and THAT MAKES ME SO EXCITED!!
Jacob Tremblay gave one of the best performances from a child actor I've ever seen in Room (plus, yep, he's friggin adorable too), and obviously Daveed's got talent and charisma out the wazoo, so I just started spazzing a bit haha.
Okay, now I'll go and actually read to find out what the movie is going to be about :P
Edit: Ahhh, yes, I've definitely heard of Wonder- I see that book all over the place! And directed by Stephen Chbosky, who did a brilliant job with Perks of Being a Wallflower? Yeeeees.

Were any of you there tonight? Would love to hear a report about Daveed Diggs' last performance!
So thrilled to hear about his new opportunities!
Also looking forward to seeing Andrew Chappelle as Lafayette and Jefferson -- I have tickets for July 21st.

So surprised to see Carleigh on as Eliza so quick into Lexi's run! Anyone know why? And was Alysha on as another sister? If not, why wasn't she first to go on as Eliza?

i also came across this, scrolled through and didn't see it posted (so sorry if it was and i missed it) but i guess he is going to be announced in a bunch of stuff pretty soon. Makes his quick departing date much clearer. https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Daveed-Diggs-Set-for-Andy-Sambergs-Pro-Cycling-Mockumentary-on-HBO-20160715
And a movie with Julia Roberts.

I was also surprised.
my friends and I were there last night and it was amazing. Daveed received a lot of applause throughout the evening.
Carleigh was great! Jasmine and Renee were both present so Alysha wasnt a Schuyler sister that evening.
i did notice sound issues. At times Burr's voice was noticeably louder than Hamilton's; or one Schuyler sister louder than the other. Not sure if it's a microphone issue or what not. It didn't happen during the entire performance but in snippets.
Im soooooo glad Daveed got his own curtain bow! Normally only Hamilton and Eliza do an individual bow and then everyone does a bow together.

We have tickets in September - (number of reasons why we missed out on the first year - but thanks to a tip from these boards, seeing it sooner than otherwise) - we were fine with seeing Javier and had mentally "priced in" not seeing Leslie Odom or Phillipa Soo, and were relatively happy with Daveed and Renee still in. Daveed was the member of the OBC that we most wanted to see.
But at the end of the day, the show will go on. The stock for the actors will never be higher than it is now. It would be wrong for them not to take advantage of that.

Agree 100%. Looks like he has great management representation too.
looks like he had a blast last night from his Twitter account and his #shotsoutthegrammy routine.
Not sure if this was posted earlier, but Daveed just snapchatted from DC and it seem he's there for the Kennedy Center's Brave New Voices event. That would explain why he departed last night rather than the formal end of a performance week.

Here's what we have learned. We shouldn't worry about Daveed Diggs. He's going to be in a big-time movie. He's got the HBO mockumentary. He might make appearances on a sitcom. (This doesn't even count his rap group.)
Yeah, this is an example of his managers striking while the iron is hot. But it also doesn't hurt that he was fantastic in key roles in a runaway hit musical that every entertainment bigwig has seen over the past year and a half. Who wouldn't want to find a role for the guy?
Two years ago, Diggs was flying back and forth across the country, on his own dime, for Hamilton workshops. Now he's got some interesting opportunities, and the movie - while it doesn't excite me all that much - could turn him into a minor Hollywood star. I guess Miranda wasn't just trying to be supportive the other day.

And to add...I saw him say in an interview that he was delivering catering platters in Los Angeles when he first got the call for Hamilton at The Public. So extra good on him! I think he might become more than a minor Hollywood star.
How wasn't Lin supportive of Daveed?

His tweet on the day of the announcement of Diggs' departure was very supportive, "apologized" for 'hogging [him] so long and added that he is 'headed to every movie/show you [love].'
There was speculation about whether Lin knew something about Diggs' future plans or was simply being supportive. My guess now is that he knew a little.

He is going to be in the next season of Blackish. I was hoping more cast members would join Empire but I guess this is a good start. He has perfect comedic timing, very excited about this.

Looks like Daveed is going Hollywood! Lin obviously knew about the offers, etc.
Just saw he's going to have a recurring role on Black'ish.
Daveed is on fire! So happy for him!

I predict he is going to be a big star and I thought so after the first time I saw Hamilton. There were always jaded posters on the board here who disregarded the idea that Daveed could not be easily replaced in Hamilton and that there was something extra special about him whenever someone said something to that effect. It seems that the powers that be in Hollywood know better.

I'm so happy he's getting all these roles. He was the highlight when I saw the show. That's like the 3rd role in a week. He's probably getting all these calls now that Hamilton is done. Considering he went from being practically homeless and sleeping on his friends couch to winning a Tony on his Broadway debut and now he's getting all these offers.
I still wonder why he didn't leave at the same time as Leslie and Pippa though but I guess I'll never know.

Just because there is something special about Daveed does not mean he can't be easily replaced in this part. Andrew Chappelle seems to have lived up to Daveed's performance. I haven't heard reports on Seth Stewart in the part so can't comment on that.
He is also like crazy hot, which I'm sure helps.

Yep, his looks will help him to get TV/Film parts that other Broadway performers wouldn't. He is talented and charismatic but let's not act like he's getting these parts solely because he's more capable than anyone else that may star in Hamilton over the years. He's young, attractive and a popular name of the moment. His talent is the icing on the cake.
