Those are good (if pretty obvious) choices.
Not that Fierstein isn't but I selfishly want his performance preserved.

Lol I completely understand, I've been wanting to see John Goodman do this role for a very long time, not actually thinking he ever would. I honestly didn't know those were obvious choices, I've never seen anybody bring those two up
Louie Anderson is already playing a woman on TV: as Zach Galifianakis' mom in FX's delicious new series BASKETS. No need to have him do this also for HAIRSPRAY: Live!

That's fine I was just naming some people that I thought would be interesting choices for the part. I don't think him playing a woman in another tv show should prohibit producers from taking a look at him. I was reading a article on people.com or et online, I cant remember which one, and they suggested Channing Tatum for the role of Edna( due to his lip sync battle with Beyonce). I stopped looking at their casting picks after that lol

And a step to the right------Brisbane/Australia in April is presenting a 6 show season of Hairspray with an extremely versatile and professional cast. It is to be an arena style show [as they did with Cats] and a 'chorus' of over 200 who all PAY approx.A$400.each to be in the show. Great idea and gives would-be's professional experience and the company a swag of $$$s upfront.
John Goodman was rumored for Broadway but passed due to his health concerns, right? Would he be too old to do it now, with his health and weight under better control?
Brick, I would pretty much die if Cher was in this or any of the live musicals. Could she really be talking about HAIRSPRAY?
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Can Cher pull off Velma, age wise? The mere idea of her seducing a Nathan Lane (hey, Cher is wishful thinking too!) in a joke shop is giving me a very happy feeling. But I still don't know... I want Kristin Chenoweth to get that part.
I think Ted Cruz should play Edna. #whyamIpersecuted
Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
Hmmm... I think they're going to put Harvey Fierstein in for Edna. He is wildly known for this role. I definitely see Steve Martin as Wilbur. Jennifer Hudson is so young for this role. I see someone such as Patti Labelle or Darlene Love. As for Link, I would pray that they tap Aaron Tveit. Neil Patrick Harris would be an excellent Corny Collins, or maybe Jim Carrey! Ana Gasteyer would be perfect as Prudy Pingleton. Without a doubt.
