Given how recently Jordan Fisher joined the cast, I wonder if it's possible that he's leaving to join the SF/LA/tour cast. They have his last day on Broadway as March 5th, and the first SF preview is March 10th. That seems tight to me, but I know nothing about how professional tours are rehearsed. Is it possible that they rehearse with the understudy until March 5th, and then Fisher plugs in to the production on the 6th for dress rehearsals and previews?
I'm surprised as well with Nicholas Christopher's exit. He started his run in November? I believe I was there for his debut and he was wonderful. Are these replacements just signing shorter contracts so they can participate in Hamilton and then move on? It will be an entirely new cast again by the time I see it in May - and I'm not complaining!
Saw the show yesterday for the first time since the OBC has left. Mostly everyone was great, however I haven't kept up with the Hamilton threads so I have to ask...is it just me, or are Lexi and Mandy not good in these roles? Most of the show Lexi could barely sing over the music.
As far as Mandy...Angelica is my favorite role. Mandy is not a rapper, clearly, and frequently was behind the music in Schuyler Sisters and Satisfied. It was easy to see she was struggling with the rap, but even for the singing most of it she seemed to be just screaming whatever note she could muster up. I was very disappointed. I loved Mandy in In The Heights, but this music just did not seem to fit her voice. Maybe they were just having an off night.
On the other hand, I LOVED Nicholas as Washington (I hope he comes back to the role someday) and Alysha as Peggy. Also, I have never heard of Elizabeth Judd but I could not keep my eyes off of her whenever she was on stage. I bet she'll make for a great Angelica if she ever gets the chance to go on.
Since I've seen this criticism multiple times here, I guess I'll ask. What do you guys mean when you say people are "behind the music"? Is this a problem with the conductor? It's not like they are singing to a track, how can they be behind? I'm not following.

It just means she's not keeping up with the conductor...either because she's not watching, listening, or she just can't physically do it. When I saw her, I didn't hear that discrepancy. Might be more obvious in the orchestra (I was in the rear mezz). And perhaps, it depends if she's having an off day.
I saw Judd as Angelica, and she was not great. I was disappointed in the whole performance. I would kill to see her as Eliza though. She comes off as too sweet and innocent for Angelica.

I was disappointed as well. There was no spark to her performance. I felt as if I were seeing one in a thousand YouTube High School Angelica-wannabes. This combined with a similarly tepid performance from Lexi as Eliza left me underwhelmed. Fortunately the men and the show itself were outstanding.

Ditto. I was incredibly disappointed with her Anjelica. Vocally, she just wasn't as strong as the other leads, in my opinion.
While lexi's acting isn't great her singing is beyond amazing IMO. Mandy...I u seedy and why people don't really like her, i for one think the slower satisfied makes the audience u detest and the lyrics more...with that said the night I saw her in September I don't recall her not being in tune with the band. But she can totally belt out the end note which is nice!
Was lucky enough to win the lottery last month and got to see Jevon McFerrin go on for Mulligan/Madison. He was very good, but that's a big step up to play Hamilton. I'd be interested in hearing what people think of his performance.
Also... is the lack of a Lafayette/Jefferson announcement driving anyone else as crazy as it is me? I thought Seth Stewart was just covering the role until the end of the year?
