So thrilled for you! That seat and view look to be perfect! Did you pay $477 for the single ticket? Are you staying over night and flying back to CA in the morning?

I read that that happened when fans watched an all-day marathon of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, when Return of the King came out. They sat in a theater for over ten hours, first watching the extended edition of the first two films and then watching the premiere of RoTK. When they went back later to see RoTK again, they realized that they had been so tired the first time that they had no memory of actually seeing the movie.
That's what I would be afraid of, doing the cancellation line. Sitting in the cold for over a day, getting tickets, and then being so exhausted that I fall asleep or zone out and miss the actual performance. Maybe when I was 20 I could have done it...

that was my fear too. So even though I was here last week I didn't do it. This time I brought warm cloth and last night and today is really warm. I think SOLD guys even brought their 'tent', so they can sleep in it during the night, tuck it away before the box office opens. I was seriously considering hiring SOLD for this specific reason. I don't want to get into a shower and risk not having physical power left enjoying it.

that ticket was 177USD, not a premium seat. But I do believe it was a house seat considering it was the first row in the front mezzanine. I arrived yesterday SFO 8:00PM ->EWR (~1:20AM). Took a UberPool (~31USD) directly to the theater and arrived at 2:04AM. I was pretty tired after getting the ticket sometime past noon. And I booked a hotel to catch a few hours of sleep before the show started. I am going back tomorrow night. Since there is basically no plane leaving NYC (any airport) between 11pm-5am. Otherwise I would gladly leave after the show. The earliest airplane back to SFO was ~5:00am from EWR and it is a long ride taking a public transportation from the theater to EWR (maybe ~2hs after midnight), so I against leaving that early from EWR.
Also before 5A.M. there is basically no facilities opens in any airports. Not very pleasant to just wait in the airport.
If you planed it well, it is very possible to do it under 48hours. It is probably going to take me 48.5hours and I still have whole tomorrow morning just for fun.

So they offered a single $177 ticket at noon? Great to be in line only looking for one ticket! Great planning on your part to have it all worked out! I'm sure you will sleep peacefully tonight!
It also bear mentioning that, it you decide to do this, know that while 50 degrees sounds like it's not that cold, after it settles into your bones at four AM, it feels a heck of a lot colder. Bring a sleeping bag, bring gloves, bring hand warmers and hats, wear long johns etc. unless it's straight up summer. Both times we have slept in the cancellation line we worried because we brought too much stuff. I can tell you we are nothing but grateful for every single layer right now.
Good to know! Please let me know your experience as this will be me and my sister next week! Want it be a knowledgable on this topic as possible because we are basically going just for this show.
Rue, one cool thing is that both times we were here we got loads of cast pics because they all walk by the waiting area and a bunch of them stop and sign playbills and stuff, so make sure you wait around by the stage door (if you're facing the theater it's the small door to the right of the main doors).

My friend and I queued for 12 hours from 2am at the beginning of March for a Saturday matinee and we were the last ones to get in, but were offered standing tickets. We had had about 2 hours sleep beforehand and were still pretty jet lagged (we are from the UK and had landed a day before) and I thought id be tired or be unable to concentrate but the show is so incredible and engaging that i didnt even yawn once, not even my feet ached after as the few hours just flew by!! It was a totally different story for my evening show (Smokefall) though, which i pretty much slept through as it all caught up with me XD
Bryn Conley said: "Did anyone go yesterday 4/20? I'm curious about the live #Ham4Ham Lottery and the cancellation line at that time, and what time did you get there? Were you able to enter the live lottery?
I have a friend who went yesterday - lined up at 2am tues pm/wed am, was 12th in line, didn't get into either show. "Can't compete with the paid line standers" is what she said.
I was thinking of going the weekend of Memorial Day sometime. Between Tony voters and the holiday weekend, how much time are people thinking? 36 hours? 48?
I was there on the 20th. We got there on the 19th at 8PM and were like 7th in line. I would suggest NOT going on a Ham4Ham day. And here's why. You don't get a good vantage point of the show from the cancellation line, and there are way fewer tickets to go around for the cancellation line when the lottery is live. When the lottery is digital, oftentimes, a couple winners won't realize they won and won't pay within the time frame and those tickets get offered to the cancellation line. This happened to us on April 2nd and we got 4 front row seats. When the lottery is live, they get their tickets because they're there, AND the standing room tickets are also given away in the live lottery where they are usually offered to the cancellation line. So we spent the night there, and thought we'd get in for the matinee and only four tickets were available so we only moved up two places for the PM show. We hung in and 8 night show tickets were released, and at 8:04 it was announced right as we were the next people in line, there were no more tickets. LUCKILY, when we saw how few tickets had been released for the day show and how late they were with the night show offerings, we grabbed two seats from stub hub that dropped in price at about 7:15 as back up tickets and printed them down the street. If we got the $177 tickets, were were going to sell the Stubhub tickets to the people behind us for what we paid for them, but we wound up having to use them. The show was fabulous, of course, but we had way better luck and there were way more tickets to go around not on a Wed. Also, Ham4Ham wasn't so great that it's worth the detriments to your potential of getting tickets. Note that, if you get on line and wait 24 hours, you will have multiple opportunities to see and even interact with the show's stars. We chatted with Anthony Ramos, have a picture with Daveed, and saw and got pics of Leslie, Lin, Javier, Chris, Pippa, Renee, John Rua, and various other cast members. They come in through the front and leave through the front and walk right past, many stopping for autograph signings and the like.

Oh no.....
Thanks for the advise. I can almost see myself doing the cancellation again next time I am in town.
Hope you had a blast!
I also want to add those personal suggestions for cancellation line
Hours and Days
Unless you plan to wait >40hours:
1) Avoid Wed and Sat at all cost
2) Avoid Weekends' performances if possible
Line up for Single Ticket
If your friend is not so determined to see it, don't bother just line up for 1 ticket. Your chance is MUCH better with a single ticket (refer to post #772 by MyFavoriteBrunette) It sounds selfish but hey, we are the crazy ones. If both of you want to come, decide in ADVANCE what happens if only 1 ticket is offered, who is getting to go.
Take ANY tickets offered
Take ANY tickets offered (with exceptions of Premium tickets unless you can afford), MAKE UP YOUR MIND BEFORE IT HAPPENS, it is going to happen in a flash. Don't throw away your shot (post #772 by MyFavoriteBrunette)
Cloth
Take a blanket and warm cloth or anything comfy that can fit in your bag
Bag
Only bag that can fit in front of your seat can be taken in, they do not check bags.

hahahahaha! are you kidding? what are you basing this on?!!!! if you go back and read MYFAVORITEBRUNETTE'S posts, she has always been a straight shooter about the line and line sitters. in fact, she waited a ton of hours herself and DIDN'T get to see the show because of the earlier arrivals of line sitters. didn't you see her story?
what's hilarious about your accusation is there are a bunch of us who LEARNED about SOLD through posts like yours, consequently used SOLD, got tickets to Hamm BECAUSE of SOLD and now praise their services to anyone who'll listen. I'm one of those people. Am I a proxy for SOLD? Not exactly... SUPER-FAN more like it. I'd use SOLD any chance I could.
Meanwhile, MFB finally saw the show herself and NOT WITH THE HELP OF SOLD.
Family of 4 there for lottery and Ham4Ham on Wed 4/20. 21 seats were in the lottery and I think 8 standing room only. Right before the lottery started, woman in charge called anyone else who wanted to enter up to the front to fill out a form last minute, so even if you get there late, you SHOULD be able to enter. It seemed like there were probably 300+ people there, and she kept telling the crowd to back up off the sidewalk over and over and seemed frustrated people were not listening to her. I can't imagine the live lottery is going to last very long on Wednesdays, crowd control was def an issue for them.
Also, we traveled from Boston and walked by Richard Rodgers many times while in NYC and ALWAYS line sitters in line under the scafolding - even when we arrived on Sunday after matinee had started, so they were there for a long wait!
