I could be wrong but I currently speculate that DeBose was rejected for the role when a better offer (Rachel) was seemingly available. Jamie Lloyd clearly knows talent when he sees it, and Rachel was clearly the right choice. No one suddenly has ‘scheduling conflicts’ for a dream role they couldn’t work out in my opinion.
It’s a bit surprising so soon after Nicole that history is repeating itself with another high calibre performance so soon but it’s exactly what is happening. Evita with Rachel also could seemingly be the commercial hit Sunset never was.
Except for our wallets, the whole thing continues to excite. It’s 2025 and we have an exciting new production of Evita with an exciting fresh cast that is resonating with the public. It’s nice not to see so much struggle we keep seeing in theatre. Everything is working out.

Hearing the show is 100% coming to NYC. Jamie has been looking at theaters. Very exciting
100% coming, and looks like Moulin Rouge is gettin’ the chop.
And the show was ALLEGEDLY recorded in the theatre this week, several performances, similar to how they did Sunset’s.

Rachel talks about begging Jamie Lloyd to be EVITA so I think something did fall through with DeBose.

I’d bet money on the August Wilson.

So contribute something greater, no?
“Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” just dropped on Spotify. It’s exceptional.

I am afraid that prices will hit a new records. I am expecting to pay $500 for a back mezzanine seat.
In a large Broadway theatre for an open ended run I would still expect Evita prices to be semi reasonable. Unless they get George Clooney to play Peron or Che or Eva or something.
I have little doubt this will be a smash at whatever price. It’s so damn good that it’ll draw even those on the fence (as I was&hellip to actually see an ALW show. Flying back to the states next week through London and still trying to figure out how to see this a third time.
With that said, they should strike when the iron is hot (and it appears that the producers are). This will simply not be the same fire-brand property a year from now.

Agreed. I fear that Jellicle Ball may have waited too long to transfer (assuming they still do). Evita playing at the same time may dilute demand for JB as well, but JB will be even less buzzy if they delay more so as not to compete with Evita.

They must still be planning on it because their social media accounts (specifically on twitter) is quite active.

I expect Jellicle Ball to open this season. I just wonder if they've waited too long. But I think it's possible for both to run at the same time and be successful.
At this point, I don’t know if I can believe Cats is going to transfer anymore and I’ll happily be wrong if it does.

I think someone on Theatreboard said they heard it from someone.

Couple actually are in the mix and hearing he liked the Lyric. Rachel has a film after the UK production and the plan is for spring '26 Broadway.

Theaterboard now says the generic theater that has yet to announce a closing for a spring ‘26 opening.
Would the producers of Cursed Child be ready to close ? I guess ATG could orchestrate something but I find that one trickier than Moulin or even Hadestown.

I feel like the Wilson would be on an appropriate timeline for resetting back to usual layout ahead of a spring opening. The Lyric seems too big at a glance, but I can see a world where Harry closes and Evita takes it.
I distinctly remember Sunset announced it was coming to Broadway at the conclusion of the final performance on the West End (they played a teaser trailer on the screen, kind of like a post credits scene!). I could very much see a world where Evita potentially follows that type of approach.

Id be very surprised if its the Lyric. Tom Feltons run is from 11th November to May 10th.
Box office has picked up for his run and id be shocked of they closed while he was in it and box office was doing better.
Unless of course Evita isnt coming in until early Summer 2026 at the earliest.
I would think they want to come in around January so Rachel can get that Tony. Hopefully Cats gets revival.
anyway does the lyric even have a balcony for Act 2?
