My part of a review of Kraven The Hunter
As I sat questioning my life choice up to this point, Ariana De Bose decided that she would one up Crowe’s questionable acting choices and give every line reading the deer in the headlights treatment. Sadly by this stage I had discovered the reason this film exist is that it will be used in nursing homes to help older people make life choices that assisted suicide is valuable.
So add me strongly into the camp that she is Meh

Idk I can slightly see the vision. I think people give her a bad wrap. She is still incredibly talented."
Agreed. Most people posting here in opposition to Ariana's potential casting will not have seen this production which ran a few years ago here at Regents Park. Were this a traditional production of EVITA then I might agree about her suitability but having seen this production, she will fit like hand to glove and yes, given the high level of choreography throughout Jamie Lloyd's version , she will nail it. Vocally, she will be more than fine.
I hope she books it and I can't wait to see this production again. For those that hated Lloyd's vision of SUNSET, you ain't seen nothin yet.

I hear you and I'm open (HUGE fan of Lloyd's Sunset). However I think it's fair to want a powerhouse vocalist in the role after that last revival which I liked, but it's no secret Elena struggled vocally.
I think I know the answer to this, but is there a reason Samantha Pauly wouldn't continue with the production? I can understand if they want another Nicole moment with a big name.

I can understand why they want a bigger name in the production, but I still don't see Ariana DeBose fitting vocally. Sam Pauly has already done the show 8X a week in London, and it's not like she wouldn't want to do it again.
She sounds exquisite on Don't Cry for Me Argentina
Was this the same production where Che strips at the end? Why is that a thing in Jamie Lloyd productions now?

DeBose simply doesn't sing well enough.
Grande has said in an interview (when asked what she will do next) that she is going to explore different art forms, not pop concerts, not recording albums and not film. So basically the only thing left is theatre?
Lloyd's gimmick is obsessing over famous ladies, putting them in a black box and put a home video recorder on them, hoping it will sell tickets. But I doubt that Grande would want to lower herself to that at this point in her career.
She might want to show the community that she found herself and her roots, or think it's artistic and do it for a month or 2 but I don't know her well enough for that.

Distractions and gimmicks.

I know I mentioned it before but the more I think about, Danna Paola really is overall the strongest choice in terms of the balancing act of talent, recognition (but not superstardom), age range/looks (she's 29, short, and gorgeous), and ethnic background.
Let's put it this way-not that social media is an indicator of everything, but Ariana DeBose has 700K followers on Instagram. Danna has just under 33 MILLION followers on Instagram. That said, that may make her too famous and uninterested in taking so much time off to move to London/devote herself to such a strenuous process. She might not even be remotely interested since she's already doing so well in the (very large) Spanish speaking market-and Ariana DeBose may be all but a done deal. Fun to speculate, though.
Congrats to Ariana for her Razzie nomination!
Supporting Actress
Ariana DeBose / Argylle & Kraven the Hunter
She was so awful in Kraven. She deserved that nomination.
Argylle I’ve wiped from my mind.
She's pretty much become the new Halle Berry: This black actress who wins an Oscar in their 30s, then goes on to have a disappointing filmography (which includes having a prominent role in a big movie centered around a comic book supervillain).

If you thought you required a lobotomy or a far more merciful assisted suicide after seeing Kraven, you should've seen I.S.S. and House of Spoils. I don't know why Ariana DeBose keeps booking these types of bottom of the barrel movies and currently has three more upcoming, according to her Wikipedia page. Don't know if she is being forced on us intentionally, but she needs to pick up that bar for the type of movies she's in.

What do you mean "forced on us intentionally"?
Debose is a working actor who can only take the parts she's offered. The idea that someone is "forcing" her on us intentionally is something I'm not understanding.

Just quoting someone else's statement in this thread. Ariana DeBose is famous and decorated enough not to take part in some movies she's in, for her own good.

Ariana being a double Razzie nom after winning an Oscar in the same decade is...... woof.
Back in October, RhodeToLove tweeted "Ariana DeBose won that Oscar and decided to never be in a good movie again."

I will say I’m pretty stoked for the new movie she’s in with Ke Huy Quan, “Love Hurts” which looks like a lot of fun.

I’m convinced this is a convenient excuse, because there was no way she could handle the score.
Might be too soon after EMILIA PÉREZ, but… Zoe Saldaña?
Geez. Scheduling is the oldest trick in the book. I must admit I’m beginning to feel a little sorry for DeBose and I hope she can navigate her way through the bumps in her career. Winning an Oscar is amazing achievement and no one can take that from her, but no one wants to peak this soon.
Meanwhile, Jamie Lloyd you need to find your next Nicole S. Please.
Thank you broadway gods !
