I heard the rumor about Diego (swoon) as well; haven't heard about Esparza; I feel like Peron is a waste of many an actor's talent anyhow, especially if they have a great voice, because a non singer could easily play him.

PLEASE let this Raul Rumor be true, despite it coming from the mouth of our sweaty friend!
Many people have mentioned that they are not particularly fond of Zegler's singing in chest voice. I agree, it sounds a bit shaky and high-schoolish. She is more of a soprano. She is good in head voice and the softer parts in chest, such as "DCFMA", that suits her voice quite well.
With that in mind, I think it is clever to go for a different approach of the material. Not the bellowing LuPone route, but a gentler soprano route. https://youtu.be/cKKR-A5UEC4?si=KveQ4D3Ih70Tro_V&t=277

O Diego-Artie from SB! Don't follow this sweaty person.
...Deeply curious how rumors about something interpersonal, informal, and with no tangible evidence like Jamie Lloyd being "charmed" by individual performers come to originate and be spread.

Can't sleep. Googled the oracle's latest video. He even says it isn't official. But if he does talk to people who are trying to promote stuff, it sounds like something a press agent might toss off. I mean how did Diego get to be the understudy? Somebody had to cast him. The Director? Who thought he was good. And maybe was even "charmed" by his performance.
He was on the night I saw SB. I thought he was ok. Maybe I was even "charmed" by him. Maybe his singing casts some sort of spell over toxic old queens just like a flute does for cobras? I'm frequently charmed watching young men play with their flutes.
What I found more interesting in Oracle's tiktok was the claim Cats is going into the Orpheum. Saw Big Gay Jamboree there in November. How will they fit Cats in? That space feels very tight. Is it smaller than PAC? A renovation to put in a catwalk?
The stuff about Ivo...in two weeks I'm seeing the revival.of his Angels in Amsterdam. When I bought a ticket I didn't really think about, "does seeing this mean I'm supporting a bad person?" Now I'm like, "oh crud." But I guess I did see his WSS in NY even though I knew the controversy over its cast. So I'm already a bad person.
I had only one f-ing hassle getting theatre tickets for this trip, and that was for the Comedie Francaise in Paris. Their website was all screwy, and I ended up buying a ticket to something for the wrong date. They have contact info on the website with email addresses and phone numbers to reach the box office...except no one answers emails and the phone number is just a recording of show times - sort of like the old movie phone. I finally gave up & bought another ticket for the right night. Get this, the top ticket price is €44. No movie stars in the casts though.
Diego just confirmed for Che!!!

He was on for Joe Gillis when I saw Sunset Boulevard, definitely a star in the making.
Diego is indeed very good as Joe Gillis and a hearty cheers to his being able to make the jump from understudy to leading man. Now someone hire Shavey Brown for a principle track!

If anyone is referencing my use of ‘charmed’ it was definitely unintentional sorry/my own language and playful in an innocent way - nothing weird or suggestive. Anyone that has seen Diego in Sunset knows exactly what I mean. Clearly Jamie Lloyd can see something in him too since he is essentially responsible for this, and it doesn’t happen by accident! This is a star in the making.

Diego was on for Joe Gillis the night I saw Sunset Blvd. He was great and it was clear he has much potential. Bravo and congrats, Diego!
Sweaty Oracle definitely uses that word.. Maybe you were his source?

Apologies in advance if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread.
I saw Andrew Lloyd Webber last Wednesday as part of the Speaker Series in Pittsburgh. He talked about Jamie Lloyd's production of "Sunset Boulevard" and briefly touched on him directing "Evita" in London. He said Lloyd's vision of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" is to have Eva perform it from the Palladium's front facade balcony, addressing any passersby on the street who stop to listen, and have it live-broadcast into the theater. He then reiterated that of course it's just the vision of the scene, and they'd have to see if the logistics will allow it to actually be staged that way.

That has been the rumor, but you heard it directly from ALW, so that is very cool. I hope it works out.

I don't know, it's a cool concept in theory. If I payed money to be in the audience of this production, and the most famous number from the show (also maybe Andrew Llloyd Weber's best song) is being sung outside and your inside watching it on a screen. I would feel a little cheated.
Wow that would be pretty incredible. I mean in theory - I would find it odd that the most famous song is not really sung in the theatre AND I can’t help but roll my eyes at Jamie Lloyd up to his old tricks AND I think it’s a bit weird to give away some of the show to free to the street. However, that is definitely interesting and out of the box thinking. It would also give the show so much publicity and become a bit of a tourist destination.
We were all joking he’d stage it that way, on the balcony outside the theatre, but of course that’s what he’s going to do. No one is surprised.
What an incredible unoriginal idea. Is he just going to copy Sunset? Is Jamie Lloyd insecure about the material or his directing capabilities?
If I were in the audience, I would walk out of the theatre to see her on the balcony. I am not watching a screen for 6 minutes and then applaud to an empty stage, when the show is going on somewhere else.
I suspect they only do the beginning of the song on the balcony. Because it needs to be dynamic. 6 minutes is too long, logistically, danger on the street, for the camera men too, and you can't let her stand outside for so long in the cold.
It would be much more interesting to use one of the side balconies in the auditorium, or do another song, an ensemble song with the cast spread out through the auditorium, if you are insecure about staging a show on stage.
Meanwhile, we're glossing right over the fact that BWW's favorite punching bag was jam on target with his gossip again.

At this point I don't think there are any people who didn't know he was going to do this. The idea of him not doing it would be gossip.

But what a brilliant, ongoing marketing/PR bonanza (assuming she nails it every night, of course).
I have to imagine that, in least in NYC, there will red tape to clear that with the city.

And good luck competing with any blaring ambulance stuck on 8th Avenue. At least the Palladium is basically surrounded by quiet lanes and the busiest nearby streets will be relatively tame.
