I have heard her sing and it’s nothing to write home about. It’s strange that my opinion of her is different from others, I don’t think she’s anything special, but this might surprise me.
Deadline hopes Snow White resuscitates the box office, and reports the film isn't bad.

I agree with you, but I felt the same way about Nicole Scherzinger until I saw her in Sunset, so I'm keeping an open mind.

Zegler has earned a reputation as a bratty narcissist- but shes in her early 20s. she clearly has talent, so lets see how she grows up.
it seems to me that if she ISNT launching into megastardom via multiple lead roles in high profile projects than an attempt at leading a splashy musical revival is the perfect career move, no? She seems well suited to play Eva so I dont get the issue.
im always surprised how this crew on these boards, who purport to be savvy and insider-adjacent to the show business space, can be so susceptible to the worst kind of corporate-driven gossip mongering. the idea that Zegler or Gadot "dont get along" is hearsay gossip, the idea that Zegler's comments are hurting appetite for this movie is pure NYPost/Murdoch propaganda, the idea Disney might torpedo the marketing/rollout of a megamillion big budget project because Zegler made some silly comments that moved no needles anywhere--its all so silly. And all this before the review/boxoffice has come in!

I agree. I don’t think there’s any world in which this film lights up the box office, regardless of who’s in it. But, unfortunately when it flops, the “go woke, go broke” crowd will be out in full force screaming their fallacies all over X.
Should the movie flop, it'll be because it's an extremely ugly-looking film that has barely been able to justify its existence, not because Rachel Zegler said something once.
DCFMA is the least of my concerns. The question is, can she handle Rainbow High? Does she have the energy or the depth the number calls for?

This will all depend on how the score is interpreted. It might help for people to know that if they are expecting a cookie cutter production of EVITA that looks and sounds like other previous productions, they are in for a shock. This production is an 'enhanced' version of the Regent's Park production which is as much as a departure from the original as SUNSET was/is.
Whether Ms Zegler has the vocal chops for the score as we know it may be in question but anything is possible in terms of Lloyd's interpretation so we will just have to keep an open mind and see what happens.

I loved her performance in WSS. Because she is a soprano. When she has to belt live it is always a bit shaky. Such as the live promo clip of Snow White in front of the Spanish castle. That's just not her nature. Then it's high school level.

This. Is. Perfect. Casting.
We have to deal with so many irritating casting choices lately.
but Rachel in THIS role?
this could be our best Evita we’ve had. I’m fully calling it.
She’s a powerhouse, she’s a presence, she can sing it.
this is a net positive.

That was said with love from another gay in a sea of gay.

The gays pay Jamie Lloyd's salary. They are the reason Sunset is still playing. Have you seen the queues at the men's room?
99% are hollering pliantly and meekly but we should also respect the 1% that has an opinion.
You people know that "Brat" or "Bratty" is now a compliment. Cole Escola's curls in OH MARY are BRAT.

Let's just cut to the chase: you are a right winger and Zegler is the focus of an online hate campaign from the Right because she's playing a White character despite having Colombian roots. I think it was dopey of Zegler to say anything negative about the Snow White project, but she hasn't called anyone a b*tch. You are overreacting about a lovely, talented woman who at the very least will sing this better than the last revival's star."
I completely agree! Everyone paints her out to be this big supervillain for no reason. I don't think she's a bad person, I think she just doesn't know when to shut up sometimes. And so what? She's a kid. She'll grow up soon and everything will be fine. From what I've heard and seen from her she's been very kind and sweet with fans. Her talent is incredible. She's an exceptional actress with insane vocal abilities. The only issue I have with the Evita casting is that she may be a bit too young. However, being young in the public eye has probably given her enough insight to execute the role beautifully. As a fellow Latina from Jersey, I'm rooting for her, and hope to see her in it.

Some of Disney's other recent live action films have done poorly, even without their "stars" saying silly things. So it goes beyond that.
Certainly there will be those who don't see it because of what she said. But most just won't see it because it's not good. If that's what it proves to be through word of mouth once it's released.
Besides, most won't even have heard what she said, because they don't care enough about her to even know who she is.
This actress is young. When I've heard her interviewed she sounds more like a high school sophomore sitting around the table at the mall with her friends talking about banal things, but seeming to think what she is saying is profound. That's normal for people her age.
She will grow up though. And she'll realize that what she says will impact some people. Because there are those who don't have much time for these 'celebrities" who go in on personal attacks. Nor do they go in for people who just say silly things. And she has done both. She'll make her choice as to which way to go.
The only objectionable comment she's ever made was her apology for condemning Trump and his garbage supporters. It is entirely rational and correct to wish ill will to this cesspit of sub-human scum.

So "dehumanizing" people and wishing them "ill will" when they don't share your views is ok? I disagree. Also, what she said about her co-star (the prince) about being kicked out of the project and about Palestine after the October 7th slaughterings, while Gal Gadot is Israeli is fine with you? Wow.

Many consider that evil thing and his supporters garbage and subhuman scum. No wonder he wants the Department of Education shut down. He has admitted on camera that he loves stupid people, and that’s exactly what his trash supporters are.
