Maybe the whole point is that you can't hear it properly so it incentivizes you to buy a ticket to actually get both sides of the performance (I'm only half joking)

And good luck competing with any blaring ambulance stuck on 8th Avenue. At least the Palladium is basically surrounded by quiet lanes and the busiest nearby streets will be relatively tame."
Should this production come to NYC (which I think it has a high possibility of doing so next spring) They might have to get some way to quiet the background noise outside, I’ve heard he’s gonna be using some of his same Sunset collaborators including sound designer Adam Fisher and video designers Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom. However unlike Sunset, I’ve heard there’s gonna be a tiny bit more of a set which will be designed by Es Devlin

Indeed, you won't hear anything on the street. There is no music whatsoever. A softly sung a capella song on a high balcony will be drowned out by the street noise. So I guess the novelty of visiting that street to just see her standing there for a moment will wear off quickly.
The same result can be reached with a promo photo of her standing on a balcony.
In a bit of a shocker, James Olivas will play Juan Peron in this production. He was recently seen in last year's Deaf West revival of AMERICAN IDIOT.

They seem to be going with a completely young cast for this production and I’m all here for it. Gonna be very curious to see how critics and audiences will react in London (that is if it plans on coming to Broadway next season)

Yes, a very young cast as everyone seems to be in their 20's?

Except for Peron, this pretty much tracks with both historical accuracy and the internal logic of the show. Che tells us directly that he was between 17 and 24 during Eva's political career, and of course we know she died at age 33, so for a lot of the show she's in her 20s.
In real life Peron was a couple of decades older, and frankly that's how I picture things in the show as well, but of course it's not a documentary and directors are free to go in a different direction.

Will Rachel Zegler relate to the lyric "A shame you did it all at twenty six / there are no mysteries now / nothing can thrill you, no one fulfill you"?

As Olivier said to Hoffman, “My dear boy, why don't you just try acting?”
I've been a little surprised to see Lloyd around NYC so much while EVITA is in rehearsal and less than a month from the start of previews. They can only do music and choreo so much while a director is away... Is this a situation where an associate is just setting the previous staging?
I was thinking the same thing - how surprising it was that Lloyd was here as much as he was. I suppose since this is based on his revival of this from a few years ago there's not a lot of the preliminary work that he needs to be here for. I suppose he's going to be back and forth between now and the Tony's which is right when Evita begins previews.
he is back and forth weekly. The guy is on long flights multiple times a week.

Have u guys seen rehearsal the clip floating on X? Do you think that showstopper moment is happening there? If so, how do you think audience will react to that?

It's not that long of a flight...Same as jumping back and forth LA to NYC, which folks definitely do often.
And not mad at that balcony footage...I wish her physicality was a bit more specific, but that's seeing this out of context of her performance.
Paying a few hundred dollars to watch her sing the most iconic song in the show on a screen is sending me. Like what even is the point of the cameras here?
Ask the sh*tty director, he loves his screens.

And pray tell, Mrs. DeMille - what would your directorial vision be? Audra singing “…Argentina” in her head voice as a HomeGoods light-up sign drops behind her? 🙄
He’s good for a gimmick and I’d imagine the running costs are super low.

To be a sty director, he's arguably the most prolific of our times.

I think it's a literal take on Eva singing to the descamisados. And even if you think it's stupid (fair) it does make a lot of sense when you connect who she (Rachel) will be singing the song live to, nightly (the people who cannot afford to see the show, who will likely come nightly to see her perform this song live) - I know it won't be for everyone, but it is a delicious choice to me.
Officer: Statesmanship is more than entertaining peasants.
Eva: We shall see, little man.

I know you probably weren't being literal, but it is a bit longer (London to New York is 8 hours, whereas New York to Los Angeles is 6 hours). The other strange dynamic about the return New York to London Flight is they are almost all overnight flights except for maybe one or two early morning flights. There isn't really enough time to get a full nights sleep, even in Business Class (3-4 hours). Additionally, the time zone differences can be difficult.
I accept that it's completely doable and practical, and Jamie is relatively young enough to cope with it all. But I wouldn't say it's quite the same.
Gone are the days when Patti could fly Concorde and perform in the same evening (according to her book).

Apparently there is video of the rest of that scene/sequence floating around. The other board has theories.
I’d be curious if her version is like the concept/original album. I think that’s the best it’s ever sounded.
