But Groff's announced departure is the 29th. Why would it close a week before that, unless he had a conflict arise?

sorry, it is the 29th. Telecharge has the 29th blacked out.

It also appears they last day available for group sales is March 15th, which I believe is a significant rollback (and usually a sign that a show is wrapping up.)
Regardless - a fantastic run and proof that Groff is a box office draw in the right show.
Curious if anything will jump into Circle last minute to close out the season....

No one named could sell like Jonathan anyways, so I totally understand why it might not continue.

Close it so we can get Sarah and Pedro in The Goat

A tour was announced for 2027:

Also, a cursory look at the seating maps for this week show that Groff is the largest selling point of this show. If the material were actually stronger, it could still easily sell out with an understudy lead. Folding at the end of March is the smart move - but I will also selfishly be peeved because that means that CATS could’ve moved in there had JIT not kept extending over and over again.

Many people close to CATS said that they never wanted the Circle because it was too small.

They're running this week without a cover for Matt Magnuson. Matt gets sick or injured, and they'll have to cancel. Just find it odd they didn't hire a second cover for the role at this point.

I’m pretty sure Jeffrey Schecter is there this week as a vacation swing covering Matt’s standby track.

It's possible, but I don't see Schecter listed as covering Bobby. And he's typically active on his IG announcing stuff.

audience was pretty full tonight, though at more reasonable prices (which is why we finally decided to go).
Matt Magnuson has a wonderful voice and does a nice Groff impression, but I suspect theres an "it" factor missing without the star from the star vehicle. its a really silly, predictable and uninspired show, and im honestly shocked that the producers took such a gamble on Groff's name to sell this. Clearly paid off so what do i know?
Bobby Darren--as portrayed here--was a horrible husband, father, and uninteresting, at best, person. Tragic that he died young but there really isnt any there there. The jukebox is doing a ton of work here. Which the audiences loves...
So kudos to the strong cast. Sarah Hyland shocked me- really incredible singing/emoting. I thought she was a TV star with some theater capability but shes a legit musical theater talent. Emily Bergl also doing very solid work in a series of roles.
I can see Jeremy Jordan keeping this going for a few months, and I wonder if the producers wanted to see how this week sold without Groff before committing to another big contract?

Groff also has three weeks just prior to him leaving where he's only doing 6 performances. Makes me wonder if Jeremy Jordan will have a soft welcome to the show and just do Tue & Thur evenings before taking over(if he's taking over). Or might they just have Matt do Tue/Thur evenings for those three weeks?

''Bobby Darren--as portrayed here--was a horrible husband, father, and uninteresting, at best, person.''
If you can't even correctly spell the legendary, Grammy-winning subject of ''Just in Time'' - Bobby Darin - it's hard to take anything you have to say about his characterization or the show seriously, not to mention the name of its current performer, which is actually Magnusson, with two S's.

I absolutely agree that you should not take me nearly as seriously as you seem to be taking my autocorrected misprint of Bobby Darin's name.
(and you have your own typo in your post, but dont worry, im not taking it/you seriously at all anyway, so we all good).

The only gamble is what to do after Groff leaves the show and if they get Jeremy Jordan they will be just fine.

I think this will do great on the road in subscription markets, even with a non-star in it. Maybe Groff steps in for the LA engagement. The tour could also be non-Equity. The mid-tier regionals and stock theatres with older subscribers are also probably dying to get their hands on it.

I can confirm it is indeed Matt Morrison coming in. They need to hurry up and announce so they can put more dates on sale.
Still wish we were getting Santino, FWIW...
