Will this be filmed for Live from Lincoln Center with her and Ken before their run ends or will they just film it with Marin?
I can't wait to go back! Great casting!
I remember reading from someone on here who said there was another actress who was offered the role and it was "inspired casting" but it fell through. Can someone tell me who was the actress being considered?

I would assume IF they're filming it, that they'd choose Kelli over Marin just because she originated the role in this production. I'd hope they would announce this soon though!

Well I am sorry you feel I was chastising the original poster. I guess sometimes we as individuals tend to interpret the intention(s) of the writer when reading something that is written. That happens a lot with texting.
I honestly did not mean to come off as chastising anyone. It was a suggestion as I am in no position to tell anyone what to do.
I will be more mindful on how I word my posts in the future.
I can surely put myself in your shoes and read my post and see how it could be misconstrued as coming off as chastising.
But I assure you that was not my intention.

it is my understanding they will be filming live from lincoln center with both ken and kelli
My question is who is going to play the role of Anna between Kelli leaving and Marin taking over the role?

I doubt she will be doing a full 8 a week especially after recovering from cancer. My guess is she will not do matinees.

Roxy, don't make assumptions about anyone's health, jesus Christ.
Awwww....bummer: I'll miss her by just a week or two. What wonderful news!
This is exciting news. I was considering seeing this in June and while a little sad I wouldn't be able to see Kelli, I love Marin so I'll still be considering it.
No you are a bundle of energy after undergoing chemo. For the records, I had 8 weeks of radiation years ago for early stage prostate cancer. Until you have done this, I would suggest you refrain from playing doctor. I was just making a guess & not a statement of fact. You therefore felt it necessary to jump all over me. Time will tell. I hope she is strong enough to do it
Lighten up pal.

When they filmed South Pacific, I seem to remember that Kelli had already left (due to pregnancy) but came back for the recording...
With all due respects to the fabulous Marin, Kelli won the Tony for the role and it should be her.
Mr. Roxy with all due respects none of us know what arrangements are being made for Marin Mazzie, if any. To that end we should not make assumptions regarding her schedule and what she is able/not able to do.
Over the moon for her. What a treasure she is—I'm so happy to be witness to her recovery. Kelli will always be Kelli, but Mazzie will be extraordinary.
I will have to pay this show another visit once Marin Mazzie has settled in. I am sure she will be nothing short of amazing in this role.
Don't you guys think she is a bit old for the role?
The 'I' is meant to be a school teacher, not a governess!?!?!?
It was a guess nothing more or less. I hope she is able to do 8. Even healthy performers now opt not to do matinees if a role is taxing such as this is
What I should have expected was neo shooting from the hip. Next time he is proved wrong about something, I will be sure to point it out. Let us let this aspect of the discussion be ended until word is out.

In my mind Anna Leonowens should be around middle-aged, I thought Kelli seemed kind of young to me. Gertrude Lawrence was 53 when she played the character.

Wonderful news!!! Kelli was fabulous and I'm sure Marin will be too.

Marin is not too old for the role, as was already pointed out Gertrude Lawrence was 55 when she played the role. Irene Dunne was 48 when she played the role in the non-musical "Anna and the King of Siam".
Deborah Kerr was 34 when she played the role in the film version.
Mazzie looks great for her age and she will be just fine in the role.
This is really an INSPIRED choice, I'm so extremely happy to see Marin back on Broadway in such a terrific role and production.

I am pleased that Marin Mazzie will be joining the cast, but I really hope that PBS will film Kelli and Ken's final performance on Broadway.
