That would be amazing if it was taped for PBS. Kelli's performance was one of the best I have ever seen. Wonderful news!!
So excited for Marin! A terrific choice.
I'm thrilled for so many reasons.
She'll do a beautiful job with the role. I'm certain.
And, it's a special way for her to really triumph over her cancer.

I am sure that both Daniel Dae Kim and Marin Mazzie will be great. Does anybody knows if Dae Kim will be staying on after June 26th?

I wonder if it'll just be the understudy, or if they'll bring someone in for the two weeks? Maybe whoever they've cast in the tour will get their feet wet on Broadway first?

On the Lincoln Center Theater site, it shows Kelli leaving April 17th, Analisa Leaming playing the role from April 19th to May !st, and Marin beginning on May 3rd with no departing date. Jose Llana will play the King only for the dates with Leaming, and Marin and Daniel take over on the same date, May 3rd. Kim it says will leave on June 26th, and as I said no end date for Marin.
I loved Marin's singing in Kiss Me, Kate. Especially "Wunderbar" and "So In Love." Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that Anna's son is about ten so in the Victorian era Anna would not likely be older than 35 or certainly 40. But makeup and wardrobe can make up for that if I'm right.
I dashed over to Telecharge and bought (full price, but not premium) two seats on the aisle in orchestra center left row L. Not bad.

Thanks I hadn't seen that before posting. That certainly clears up the confusion!

Keep in mind, the show was written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for Gertrude Lawrence, who was 53 years old when it opened.
Marin doesn't look over 40 to me?? Am I just dumb or does she really look that old to you guys?
I'm sure she'll be stunning when you see photographs. I wouldn't worry.
Any word if the rumors about Kelli heading to London are true? I'm dying to know what's next on her agenda...
The show is going to be filmed for PBS and with the original cast, I've been told.
This is such wonderful news. It is such a victory over cancer. I love this woman so much and she is a great artist. I will weep tears of joy to see her play this wonderful part in this gorgeous production.
I want to see Kelli do a straight play
This is extremely exciting! Marin is such an inspiration! I have tickets to see her solo show on May 7th in Indianapolis. I haven't gotten an email saying it's been canceled, so I assume she will do The King and I for 3 days, fly to Indiana and be there for 2 days, then come back for that week? Seems like odd scheduling. I just hope she's able to make it work to where she can do both.

Marin was phenomenal in Encores! ZORBA, and I think this part suits her well. She is a warm and strong stage presence and does not strike me as someone who appears "too old." In fact, I, too, thought Kelli came across as rather young for the part (although I enjoyed her performance tremendously).

She did ENRON. She was good in it, but it was a terribly bizarre play slammed by critics.

OMG HAHA. I totally thought he said Marin.

I totally understand wanting to see her diversity of talents, but I would honestly feel ripped off sitting through an entire straight play with her not sharing her gorgeous voice.
Can she do what Audra did with lady day
Marin was wonderful in NEXT TO NORMAL. Can't wait to see her in this!

If they do what they did with South Pacific, which is most likely it will be with Marin Mazzie and not O'Hara. Frankly, I do not see them broadcasting the show live anytime soon as it has officially extended the run
