Are you seriously blaming the Democrats for the rise of Donald Trump? The GOP has been heading in this direction for decades, and pretending they aren't responsible for what I see as the inevitable endpoint of the consistent shift further and further to the right is not only ignorant but straight-up hostile. The Republicans are the ones who refused to cooperate with Obama, quite blatantly and repeatedly, and they're now focusing their energies on repealing the Affordable Care Act which, while it has problems, is significantly better for the majority of Americans than any stupid replacement plan Paul Ryan has come up with.
Also, Patti LuPone can say whatever the hell she wants about politics; as an American citizen, that is her right.

Thats the thing. Someone with a lifetime of experience in the public eye could have done a better job reaching out and working with the other side. Nobody in congress *trusted* Barack, even when he held a filibuster proof majority. And why should they? While they were serving the country on 9/11/01 - nobody had even heard of Barack. It's simply not a job for a newcomer. Just as I think Bush was responsible for leading us to those dark Barack years (and W's approval rating with Republicans shows GOP voters hold their own responsible when they fail, unlike Dems) the current state of American politics is the result of Barack's "leadership."
Patti LuPone and other leftists should seriously look inward and hold their own responsible or they will continue making the same mistakes and will ultimately never be happy.
This is the best parody of an idiot alt-right winger trying to blame Obama for how horrific a president Trump is I've ever seen. I applaud your creativity for working in every ridiculous argument and the 9/11 reference was brilliant. How did you keep from cracking up laughing as you wrote it? BRAVO!!!

Just as I blamed Bush for Barack, I blame Barack for Trump. In my view we should hold Presidents accountable for their successors. I happily voted for Trump, but if he is succeeded by someone horrible like Elizabeth Warren or The Rock, I will certainly be blaming him for his part in that failure. Hopefully he does a great job.
I totally agree about LuPone, so long as she'd back my rights to say what I want. I happen to think she's maki ng a huge mistake for not looking inside herself and her own party.
theaterguy11 - You drank the kool-aid! tRump is THE untested prophet! 120 days into being President and he is being investigated. This record will stand for years! He flops at everything.

Watch your mouth about our next president, The Rock. You either smell what the Rock is cooking or you get flying drop kicked into the 3rd row. Your choice.

It would be so much easier to take Republicans seriously if they didn't operate in a fantasy world. There are fair critiques to be made of Obama, but stuff like that is ridiculous. "
I simply disagree. Barack was not even well known in a single state until late 2004. He went from an absolute nobody to "president" within 4 short years. Media fawned over him and we still do not know about large portions of his life. At least the current President has been a nationally known figure with nowhere to hide since the 70's. Sorry but in 2008 its absolutely absurd that we elected someone who wasn't even known on 9/11/01.
The reason why we ended up with Trump is because the Democratic Party went with a candidate from a political dynasty and who had more baggage than a Louis Vuitton factory, not because of President Obama. He left office with popular approval, a growing economy and stock market. Trump is so enmeshed in scandal that the market has already fallen 300 points. He has yet to get any legislation passed, he wants to end cost sharing subsidies which has the potential of drastically raising my health insurance premium. The list goes on. So far I'm not impressed. We'll see.
Patti didn't bring the subject up. Trump wants to eliminate funding for the NEA, don't expect him to be popular with the theater crowd.

Your argument makes zero sense. The "untested" Obama won two elections. Then Democrats put their "faith" in the most battle tested and experienced public servant of all time, who "lost." The irony is you say all of this while failing to grasp that you support a reality star with zero public sector qualifications. You do hear yourself right?
It's definitely closing the barn doors after the horses are out, because you can see that clip on the internet elsewhere.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Very disappointed in Broadway.com for taking down the original video. You gave Patti a platform to speak out against the injustice of the current administration. She used it. I don't see what the problem was, but taking it out IS a problem. Staying silent is the worst thing to do right now, and worse than that, you censored someone speaking their mind after requesting they do just that. Fu*k you Broadway.com.
I have no interest in defending Broadway.com, but it may not have been their decision to alter the video. It's possible that the War Paint producers, or Patti's representation got in touch and asked them to edit, especially after it went pretty viral.
Patti is a big personality, and that's something I love about her, but I can definitely see producers thinking that not all press is great press, especially if you're angering a section of your audience.
But like it's been said, it's not like it's hard to find what she said, as long as you know where to look.
If it was the War Paint PR team that had it taken down, I kind of fault them for not having any foresight about what happens in an interview with Patti LuPone where there is no list of approved questions. Hell, this isn't even the first time this month she said something brutally honest that immediately went viral.
