re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know what is going on with the updated grosses? They are usually out on Monday, but I figured with Columbus Day being observed yesterday, they'd be out today. But I am still seeing last week's grosses. Just curious to see how the show did last week.

I read those on a Constantine fan board. some of his fans went last night because rush tickets opened up in the afternoon for $25.00.

I can go get the review if you like. It was nice and not all Constantine.

re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

Here is the part of her review regarding the show.

"So the show started - it was a rotation of funny take offs on dramatic plays and then a featured singer. Every single one of them was outstanding, but these particularly impressed me:

Kevin Cahoon did a wonderful job on "Wicked Little Town." Jim played the guitar, the piano player played and Bridget Everett did the back up singing. It was perfect - very properly sung, very much in a Hedwig mode, and it set a fantastic mood.

Catherine Brunell's rendition of "Gimme, Gimme" was a show stopper. The song was something I've heard long ago, but the quality of this woman's voice just set it aside as something special.

Kevin Kerns sang "What I Did for Love" which was one of the biggest highlights for me. That's one of my favorite ever songs and with Chorus Line moving back into town this last week, it was even more moving. He has a fabulous voice.

Megan Lawrence (Kevin Kerns wife) sang a most unusual tune, The Black Dog. It was funny, funny. Really enjoyed the tune and her singing.

Then there was that Maroulis guy. He was the opening singer of the 2nd part of the show. Jim sat onstage with him and played guitar. Cons was very sharing of the stage with Jim, he made sure that Jim received a good amount of recognition. It was like a duo was performing in many ways.

Before he started out, he announced that he had been a late arrival in the show and therefore was doing some of his own songs - in fact songs that would be on his CD which would be coming out.

First song GLY, Cons did some unique notes with it so that it sounded like a different song that it did this summer.

Next, ELEC - we had to hold ourselves back from doing the chorus...but Cons approached the song from a very stage oriented direction. He really held himself in place and just sang his heart out.

Finally, he announced that with Jim coming into the theater today, they would do one of his songs, (which will also be on the CD) and they did Several Thousand. Jim did backup singing on this one and the first two also.

Now let me be honest - I've heard Constantine sing all three of these songs a number of times before. But tonight was the best I have ever heard him sing them. His voice was absolutely perfect - in fact I'd have to say it was beautiful. The sound accomodations in the theater were also top notch, so it was one of the most glorious sounding tones I have ever heard him do.

The audience really gave him and Jim outstanding applause throughout and at the end of their set. They were totally deserving of it - no doubt.

They left the stage and suddenly, Constantine returned. He told the audience that since he had some tv time, they had asked him to introduce the video to be played next. He pulled a paper out and said it was only three words, but he didn't trust himself, so he read the intro - actually, it was more than 3 words!

It was a lovely night - if you get a chance, please check out the Gotham Stage Company - they're worth it."

Damn it! How did I miss that?

When am I going to get to meet Megan Lawrence? I swear I've tried so many times and it's just never happened!
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

I got lucky when I met her. I was walking past Pajama Game just as it was letting out and I was like "OH! I should wait to see if Megan comes out" and about 15 minutes later... I see her big mop o' blonde curls bouncing down toward the front doors. She's such a sweet woman and just adorable. re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread. I can see why her and Kevin are married.

Thanks for posting that! I'd love to hear Kevin sing "What I Did For Love"... gosh, pretty song for a pretty voice!

Rumor has it Constantine wants to continue his run.

I heard that too. I guess TPTB will make the final decision, though.

And Chicago? Wow. I didn't think Usher being out would make such an impact.

re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

I was there Saturday at the matinee and it appeared to be close to (if not) sold out - with a VERY responsive audience. It was a lot of fun!
Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

I believe they celebrated their 7 year anniversary this year? And they met doing A Chorus Line back in Cincinnati a long time ago.. so they've known each other for years.

Yeah, hi, I sound like a creepy stalker. :[

re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

The grosses definitely made me smile this week. Much better than what they have been, YAY for that!!! I mostly go on weekends and from what I see it is pretty much full basically everytime I go but I don't know how full they get during weekdays, but it's apparently pretty good based on the grosses re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

I never got to see Nicolette as Linda and I'm not gonna lie I REALLY wanted to...still want to. Not that I wish bad on Felicia because I LOVE her to death and I would be disappointed if she were out, I would still be really interested in seeing Nicolette. I'm going this Friday, Sat mat, and Sunday so you never know...haha yeah I highly doubt it. Even if Felicia was out yesterday I'm sure she'll be back, she's not really out that much to begin with.

re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.

I was at that Gotham night benefit show on Monday also. I really enjoyed hearing Kevin Kern, Kevin Cahoon, and Constantine sing that evening. They all sang really well and were very well received by the audience. Nice to see TWS so well represented.

Got to speak with them both before and after the show. Really nice guys, each one of them.

The whole show was very well done. A very unexpected surprise. Nice to see performers of this caliber supporting a good cause.

Wow, I'm so glad to hear the grosses are up! Also the good reviews from the Gotham thing... I do hope Constantine continues his run... as I've said before, it's pretty clear his presence is increasing attendance at WS and that is a good thing!
