As someone who adored MHE when I saw it, I do agree the title isn't great. Then again, it is much less genericthan the working English title in 2017, "What I Learned From People" (if Wikipediais to be believed) and the 2023 Korean film adaptation title, "My Favorite Love Story".
I did consistently call the show "Maybe Happy Endings" before seeing it, the real title only making sense in retrospect. Still not sure what a good alternative would be, maybe Chasing Fireflies?"
We were brainstorming and said also something related to the fireflies or a “charge” like Fully Charged or Recharging. I like Chasing Fireflies.

I've bought into the hype (I needed a day off anyway), so I'm taking the train in for the day and seeing the matinee. This does sound like my kind of subject matter.
The official Instagram account posted this photo today to share that the performance was sold out! Fills me with so much joy to see this lovely show continuing to pick up steam.
Michael Arden reshared the photo on his Instagram story and wrote:
"I'm crying. This show has always been a big gamble. It's not lost on me just how lucky we are to have a show running.
Thank you so everyone who has come and bought tickets. And told their friends. You are the reason we get to play another day. It's a long road ahead but my heart is grateful for each and every moment.
Here's praying we get to put this this sign up again (and again.)"

Good thing that closing date didn't happen. Today's matinee was soldout and the evening show was almost soldout. EDSOSLO858, you haven't gotten one closing notice correct this season, so please stop.
Tomorrow’s performance only has a couple seats left and most of next week is sold very well so far. Fingers crossed for this amazing show.

It aged fine, once you accept that EDSOSL "hears" about these closing notices from the voices in their head.
Just concluded a five show trip and MHE is hands down the show that made the trip worth it.
People tend to write about it as 'sweet' and 'cute'. Yes. It is those things. I think it'd be more helpful to the show to emphasize that it's a masterclass in direction and stagecraft. I had my hand over my mouth with tears streaming into my fingers more than once at the beauty unfolding in front of me. Criss is so endearing it's absurd - I was expecting 'fine' but he delivered 'excellent'.
I found myself wanting to skip my last show tonight to return to MHE, only to drop by and find that it was sold out.
Thank God!
This show is a testament to why Broadway is Broadway - it's exhilarating, touching, awe inspiring and flawlessly executed. I now think it could very well find its legs.
We saw Cabaret. It was sold out too! Saturday sold outs.

To be fair, they got Tammy Faye and Swept Away closings by a week right?
So the Broadway production is an English language revival of/from the Korean productions and already adapted musical film IP.

False. They claimed Tammy would close December 1, so they were off by a week on that one, too. Now personally, I don't think "Tammy Faye will close soon!" was a very impressive prediction, but YMMV.

I saw this a few days back and WOW it is one of the best new musicals to come out in years. So innovative, smart, beautiful, charming, and cohesive. I feel like the biggest thing new musicals miss is the cohesive box and this one knows what it is and it works so well. The set is phenomenal. The story is sweet. The songs are great. Just go

I guess I’m in the minority here. I’m glad I saw it and while I liked it I definitely didn’t love it. And I wouldn’t tell anyone they ought to see it.
The score was, in my opinion, monotonous. I thought Criss acted well but his singing just wasn’t good enough. Shen had no charisma and again wasn’t a great singer. I thought the book was strong but then the story was dragged out. I hour would have been plenty. ,
i did love the sets and staging, but I wonder if the sophistication and power of the sets worked against the material.
[SPOILER: The most moving parts for me were the memory reveals and only then did the narrative become emotionally engaging to me. And if Oliver didn’t erase his memory then what was going on in the scene where we thought they both erased their memories?]
I thought the audience response was tepid.
There are interesting parallels with Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun.

The sets work against it and also felt the same way about the score and performances. It's cute but the online overhype is creating unmet expectations for many.
You're not in the minority. Surprisingly friends had your same response and preferred the depth of Left On Tenth when comparing the "rom-com" aspect of the two. They found the MHE book thin "done before" on film and overlong.

We're finally seeing some serious advertisement for MHE with tv spots. It seems like the last few weeks were good enough that the producers are willing to invest some money in reaching a broader audience and try to keep the momentum going. The holidays should be good for the show and I'm interested in seeing if they can keep building on the improvements of the past two weeks. The post-Thanksgiving grosses should be interesting.
It's more about the grosses starting in January. Broadway tends to do well Thanksgiving through the New Year regardless. This weekend a ton of Broadway shows have been sold out Friday-Sat. Out of town international tourism is strong in December as is NYC/NJ attendance all month. It should be fine. It's January...

Well, it certainly aged better than their late-to-the-game prediction that the Wicked movie would get poor reviews and be a massive flop.

Darren Criss Takes Us Backstage on Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway | Us Weekly
https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/darren-criss-takes-us-backstage-on-maybe-happy-ending-on-broadway/
I saw this show Saturday, and it was GREAT. Wonderful. Probably the best musical I have ever seen on Broadway. That's not really saying something, because unlike most of you I have only seen a handful of Broadway shows, but still. I thought the acting was perfect. Darren Criss has never impressed me with acting before, but as a robot innocent, he was perfect. Shen was the sarcastic bitchy robot, but not someone you hate, and had a heart as well, and was again perfect. The music was beautiful, though I cannot remember the tunes, having only heard them once. All I remember is the tune to the oft-repeated Oliver's name in the song his owner sings in the fantasy number between him and Oliver. Still, they were good songs that I'm sure would be memorable on a few more listens. I'd say most of even the best Broadway scores don't have music that is instantly or fully remembered on just a first listen. The set design was absolutely amazing and genius. I did also wonder about what actually happens when
Oliver supposedly erased his memories, though.
I did also predict the
lover of Claire's owner coming on to her. But, I had seen the spoilers about Oliver not erasing his memories, so, who cares if I knew a lot of the story already?
A testament to this show is that even knowing or guessing some of what happens, I still found it one of the best things I have ever seen. I did not find the show overlong, and I did find it original. I highly recommend this show, and I bet it will win Best Musical. I really hope it gets the long life or attention it deserves.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this! Is the last row of the center orchestra a good seat? Is anything obstructed? Will I miss anything?

I sat in the second to last row. You’ll see everything perfectly (except for one spoiler-ish lighting effect)
I sat in Q110 and thought the view was fantastic. It is an intimate orchestra at the Belasco.
