Julie will prob be doing Harmony. I heard a rumor Jackie Burns is for FG tour. Who knows?

I saw her response on TikTok, which inspired me to go searching. This article from the NY Post references that 2 week workshop, but also (pretty convincingly) states that she is joining the cast for the Broadway run.

Does Julie's supposed character in harmony have like a solo song? I was under the impression she's doing the smaller female role. Didn't Sierra do the other one?

I thought it was a duet with Sierra. That said, this would be the first time she would be opening a Broadway show, which is pretty cool and the subject matter is close to her heart. If Manilow is promoting the guys, she is likely to benefit from that connection as well. Curious about Sierra. I'm sure her dream leans more towards Secret Garden, but it didn't get particularly great reviews in L.A. Harmony is a done deal and is moving forward. Guess we'll see.

It’s official. Julie Benko joins HARMONY!

My heart is exploding with joy for Julie.

She is going to finally get to originate a role on Broadway - in a new musical with an original score based on a powerful true story that is close to her heart. 

It’s early, but I think we know who the front runner for next year’s Best Supporting Actress TONY is.  Congrats. 

Dreams do come true.

Have you SEEN the show? Unless they're doing rewrites for Broadway, it's sort of a minor role -- certainly not one that screams out for awards attention.

To be fair, I think Ruth has a couple of scenes where she really gets to shine, though I think her only song feature is in the duet with Sierra Boggess's character.  Normally I wouldn't say it's necessarily featured role nomination worthy, but I do wonder if the nominators would vote her in partially because they also appreciated the work she did in Funny Girl.  Though it's also probably way too early to tell since we don't know how the rest of the season is shaping up.

Ruth plays the ultimate price in the play.

Her final scene is devastating - I can only imagine what a talent like Julie will do with this rich material. 

It's not the amount of time you are on stage that determines awards nominations.

Somoene who saw a run-though at the last workshop that they did said a number in the first act was retooled to be largely hers (Julie's). This is in addition to her previously mentioned duet in the second act and, if my memory serves, a solo chorus in the wedding towards the end of Act I.

What does that mean? You know for a fact she had a firm contract for Harmony? I've been waiting for this announcement and suspect she didn't commit until it was definite Secret Garden wasn't going to go forward. Secret Garden is her dream show and she has pushed like crazy for years to do the show on Broadway. If they could have mounted the production, she would have done SG.

That production of Secret Garden from CA transferring to NY? When there are lines upon lines of producers trying to get theaters? I don't see it.

And was privy to Sierra's private contract dealings? Got it. As someone noted above it was unlikely the LA production of SG wouldn't be transferred to Broadway and I have to agree. That said, I'll bet she was still hoping. Been following her for a while. Happy she is going forward with Harmony and will be on Broadway again. Once Harmony closes, she'll be trying to get SG produced.

I guess you know it all. Harmony isn't going to run forever and Sierra will still be obsessed with SG. Guess we'll see. In the meantime, I am happy she is back on Broadway, as I mentioned before. She's worked hard these past several years to keep working AND I would love to see her do SG on Broadway if it is at all possible.

Boggess is not enough of a name to have pull enough to get a production transferred.

It might be that she has an out to do Garden if it happens, especially seeing as Warren Carlyle is directing both Harmony and SG.

But I will believe SG is happening when I see it.

The LA production received a fairly tepid response, did it not? Not that a tepid response has stopped productions from transferring in the past, but still.
