It felt like Eden was acting in her own little space. She didn't seem to interact particularly well with others onstage and I have seen every cast that comes by thus far. Eden was great in her own right, but it made me want Shoshana back because everytime it was like she was in it for the first time. Her energy was always there and she was a plus for this show.
I think I will have to blame this recycling crap on the dull condition. PLEASE we WANT new blood! Murney should bring some flavor to the what is it? Tour or Chicago I'm not sure which. But please mix it up! Eden has done broadway, then tour, and by this run shes probably dead already. Its bad

Posted: 2/25/06 at 7:45pmMurney will be joining the tour. Next weekend, I believe. I kind of wish they would put her on Broadway. I get what C is for company is saying. Eden's been with this show from the start, and she's probably getting tired of it. Give the girl some new work, and she'd probably be better off. (I still stick by thinking she was good when I went, but that could've been a fluke).

Posted: 2/25/06 at 8:48pmThe first of two times that I saw Eden she was phenomenal. Then, the second time I went to see her, she wasn't as good. It's worth mentioning that the first time I saw her was her opening night a few weeks ago. Her energy was definitely there.

"Then you must not of heard anything. She changes everything she does EVERY night to keep it fresh. She is the best vocalist for Elphaba in my eyes that Wicked has had so far. She was the original standby so obviously she’s going to take things from Idina and she takes little things from everyone else but all of the Elphies do that. She does her own thing too. Many of the Elphies have taken some of her things from when she was back as standby. Every one takes ideas from other people. You haven’t even seen her so you shouldn’t be saying that she’s "unoriginal" just yet."

I agree about the Megan/Sho chemistry...it was unmatched! That really made the show so enjoyable to watch because they just had so much fun together. I miss it.
On an unrelated note, Wanna Be a Foster, is that a picture of Johnny and Kooks? I LOVE them!!!

I don't either Horton.
I think right now is fairly slow, but by no means has it not been good since Idina and Kristin left. One of the reasons for it being less energetic at this time is probably because this January was a HUGE cast change, all of a sudden there were many new cast members in major roles.
And as for the cast members not having fun, I definitely did not notice this. I think they lacked some energy, but they didn't seem to be having any less fun than when I last saw it with Megan and Sho.
I still have lots of hope for Wicked, and I know that even if there is a slight slump right now it won't last for long. For one, having such an active, enthusiastic, and involved fan base helps a show maintain the energy, and if any show has this..it is Wicked.

I just recently saw the cast on 2/22. I must agree with most of your views with the ensemble, they just didn’t seem to have that level of energy that I’ve seen at past performances.
I enjoyed Megan’s Galinda a lot, but then again I have not seen a Galinda that disappoints to this day. Megan, she’s sooooo cute. Her “Popular” was great that day. Love her.
Eden, I was eagerly awaiting her performance. (I really wanted to see her in something else aside from BKLYN.) I wasn’t exactly sure of what to make of it; her vocals were great, but yet a totally different interpretation of Elphaba on her part—which I enjoyed.
I just wasn’t feeling the “For Good,” which was a disappointment.
The only thing I really miss from Sho’s performance is her NGD.

Posted: 2/26/06 at 12:10pmsadly, i think that just happens to shows after a while. the first time i saw wicked with the obc, i (obviously) thought it was incredible. subsequently, i've now seen it SO many times with the different casts that i'm just not entertained anymore. i'm much happier with simply listening to my cast recording.

I don't know about maintaining the energy, but it certainly keeps the security guards busy.

Katie was on for both shows yesterday, she's on today and will be on on Tuesday!
I saw the show last night and Katie always amazes me. She finds things in the character that others have not. And she is absolutely hilarious!

Posted: 2/26/06 at 4:12pmI'm not saying that the show isn't good without the original cast, because I saw it 5 times after that and loved it. Just some of that magic left the show and I noticed the depth of the show gone as soon as the originals left. Not saying it's bad in any way. This may also be caused by me seeing the show many times. I'm not saying it's bad at all.

Posted: 2/26/06 at 5:43pmWicked's been getting sloppy for a while now. In fact, the last time I saw it (March of last year), the only things keeping it alive were George Hearn and JLT. I don't think I'll return again after seeing such a boring (with a few exceptions) performance.
