We are getting underneath your skin now and that makes us happier than winning the Election. Whats the Matter Hamiltonians ? Did Trump and Pence take away your shot ?
The main take away from this episode is not the actions of the cast, nor even the behavior of the audience. The main thing we're seeing here is a President-elect who responded through social media like a petulant child (apparently relying on second hand accounts), proving that he is not yet, and probably never will be, able to pivot from the school yard bully mode of his campaign to something even slightly more presidential. The man is an absolute embarrassment to mankind, and I think we can look forward to his tweeting us with daily reminders of that for the next four years.

The Hamilton cast went high because Pence and his cohorts have gone low...
I am so tired of Trump's whiny Twitter outbursts at anyone who doesn't bow down to him and his administration. And if his little lap dog Pence cannot handle some well-deserved boos and an extremely intelligent speech asking him to be a more inclusive politician then how in hell is he going to handle a true international crisis situation?
For 18 months Trump dished it out. And is proving day after day that he cannot take it. Also, apart from his half-hearted "stop it" on 60 Minutes, Trump has shown very little outrage over the violence and terror being done in his name. Over 400 hate crimes done in his name since the election.
Dixon is a hero.
Unfortunately, the more serious ramifications of this will probably be along the lines of Trump defunding PBS, anything to do with the arts, and trying to get 'Hamilton' closed down for sedition. He probably couldn't do it, but I bet he'd try. He's very thin-skinned. I also honestly think he'll try to get SNL taken off the air for the same reason. The First Amendment doesn't mean anything to him.

I think Trump is trying to divert our attention to something else hence starting a quarrel with the Hamilton production! For example, yesterday's news was all about the settlement of his fraudulent Trump U, and today it's all about Hamilton. Also his meeting with the Japanese PM this week, with Ivanka and her husband present. I thought his children were going to manage his businesses in a blind trust (?) Screams conflict of interest to me! And he didn't allow any press in the meeting, so who knows what was discussed!
Some Trumpies on twitter are already saying funding for the arts should be cut.
Trump was always going to cut funding from the arts. Has no one been listening to him speak for the past couple of years? To say that this is the reason that will happen is playing into Trump's game.
Those of you complaining that this happened, I have news for you: This is what America looks like now. Us people of color, us queer people, us immigrants will no longer sit there quietly to entertain you while you go out into the world and destroy us. And we will not apologize to the idiots who don't understand what an important thing the cast and audiences of HAMILTON did last night. Sorry that protecting our rights does not constitute as proper theatre etiquette for you, deal the fvck with it.

I actually think that they went too easy on him. Although it's probably good that they took the high road.
(You may be confused by this post because back when I posted on here a lot, I was a Republican. I'm not anymore).

Doesn't Trump consider The Apprentice, the Miss Universe pageant or his books art?
Its weird that he would want to cut arts finding since he has been so involved with it.

The only bit of common ground we can find between Trump supporters and the rest of us: America got the president it deserves right now.

I would imagine (though I could be wrong) that none of his projects ever benefitted from arts funding, so he considers it a waste.

But who truly started this quarrel?
Did Pence by going?
Did the crowd by booing?
Did the cast by reading a statement?
Did Trump by defending Pence?

Pence is a theocratic, homophobic, willfully ignorant bigot. His vision of America is the same as Iran and Saudi Arabia, a theocracy ruled by a wealthy self-appointed elite ruling according to their interpretation of an ancient storybook. He deserves no apology and no respect. Just a swift ouster from office. Updated On: 11/19/16 at 12:43 PM

It's so ridiculous how all of you and others are acting regarding the President and VP-elects. Our rights are not going anywhere. It's absurd. Get over it already!
On a related note, didn't he brag to 60 minutes that he had 22 million followers? He has 15 million. What a stupid thing to lie about.

Apparently Trump has become pro-safe spaces all of a sudden.

The signs point to you being the ridiculous one.
@z5 is nowhere near "the ridiculous one" in this thread.
^^^^^^
THANK YOU for editing that.
The Governor of Indiana might have been able to get tickets, the VP elect definitely could and that's the big d!ck Pence is swinging. The office and its power.
I can not remember the specific news story, but I can clearly remember when Trump's people were hustling for potential running mates, several of them were told "you would be the most powerful. VP in history", knowing that DT will get bored easily w the real work and they'd need someone to do the lifting.
Esp within the elected Repubs who DT has no relationship with.
Again, actions speak louder than words- join the Dems and work towards midterms, give to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU but work! don't just armchair quarterback.

You seem weary of committing to your right wing beliefs. If that's what you believe, own it. You're always dropping little hints in political threads.
ljay889, if you're that, um, intrigued by my political beliefs, shoot me a PM. Happy to divulge anything you want to know.

You mean like how the conservative bent of the Supreme Court allowed the Voting Rights Act to be gutted, thus allowing certain states to increase voter suppression of the poor and minorities as shown in this election cycle? Or the constant threat against women's reproductive rights? Or pushing more Xtian "ideals" and suppressing Muslims, thus breaking the freedom of religion right? Never mind the Russell Amendment?
By "our" rights "not going anywhere," you only mean white straight (xtian) male. As the ACLU says, freedom can't protect itself. It's not just Trump-Pence who are the biggest threats: It's the red Congress and the subsequent red Supreme Court justices who will whittle away at existing hard-won rights of women/minorities/LGBT with case precedent that will last DECADES. But you're just being short-sighted, or you're actually for all of that.

Think of it this way. Wouldn't Pence more likely be a positive advocate for Broadway while in office if he had a better experience ? Now he is probably saying to himself about the people who booed him " f*ck em".
Pence has been booed at a non-political event before.
I just learned about this one -- in April. In his home state.
At a baseball game!

Yup, ask Indiana. People there hate him so much that they were cheering when he was nominated as VP (because he'd be leaving).
