Ivy is a big, fat pig! All that's missing in that pic above is an apple in her mouth.

Megan Hilty is not fat at all. She's a girl. Deal with it.

Just watched the clip for Monday's episode. PLEASE, PLEASE stop advertising older shows. In the background, is a HUGE marquee for GYPSY that starred B.P. and next to it is a marquee for American Idiot. And if you watch closely you can then see the MEMPHIS marquee....so unless you are not a theater geek (or queen to some), like me,then it would not make a difference...I know that two out of three shows are currently NOT playing on Broadway!!! Advertise current shows...that will sell tickets (hopefully).
I agree with that DailyBeast article, although obviously I am enjoying the show enough to keep watching (and endlessly posting about it :P ). I don't think it's so inexplicable that it's found an audience as he says--granted it's not a massive audience anyway, but it's different enough from other network offerings and has enough appeal to catch something, anyway. The one line I think that does get it right is:
"Even in that retreat, Smash has proven itself to be weak-willed, attempting to cram earnest drama and over-the-top soap operatics into 40 minutes." I think that's exactly the problem--they try to both be a "real" drama and a soap--as we've discussed here, and the mix just isn't working. Beyond that, it's also meant to be a serialized drama and it is, but plot obstacles, interesting or not, are brought up at the start of one episode and then hastily dealt with by the end, which isn't how you do that kinda show...
I have to admit that I'm really enjoying the show, I'm not sure whether that's because or in spite of all it's ridiculousness but it's definitely a guilty pleasure. But possibly the most frustrating part of the whole thing is that, after dragging it out for another season, we're not going to see the full musical! I don't know about anyone else, but I sort of want to see the finished product once the inevitable happens and they get it to Broadway. For me the Marilyn numbers have pretty much been the highlight.
i kinda like that the show mixes it up with over the top soap and then slamming it down with a musical number or two..
bernadette episode has been my favorite as it combined, smashingly, the elements that ive grown to love with this show; classic broadway musical number (not so much into the faux bruno mars @la mama thing) with all that crazy angelica houston and elias stuff - plus a chance to see some amazing actors working on TV
and of course a crazy disco marylin number

Any guesses where Shaiman and Wittman will steal their next song title from?
Link
Jovie-If I am correct that scene is a "dream" sequence and the boards were made to be different I guess to fit the dream?
I always thought Smash would pull a "Light at the Piazza" and reveal the son was a little slow at some point. I am still waiting.
Edit: and with this post I have become a Broadway Star - ha, I was a leading actor for YEARS!

Norbert Leo Butz is so awesome at everything he does. His scene was the only time I didn't roll my eyes!
PLOT TWIST!
It would be awesome if the remainder of this season consisted of Ivy and Karen trying to sabotage Uma and the Marilyn musical Meg Ryan/camera obscura/Addicted to Love style.
