What’s the point of including things that aren’t eligible? I suppose it’s a way to call out great work, but, like, they know the Tonys only cover Broadway.
I would really be surprised to see a great number of their “will wins” actually… win.
These "predictions" are usually pretty chaotic and this year is no different.

There's no way Groban is going to win for Sweeney Todd.
These are a joke lol
I love this list every year. Although, I wish they would put the two critic's pick beside each other for easier comparison. I always love their inclusion of random shows and performers not on the list. Any avid watcher of "Theatre Talk" will remember, when ask what Jesse Green was looking forward to in any season, he would always rhyme off Off-Broadway work, and many smaller pieces.

Are they an actual joke?
They have Jordan Donica listed as not eligible and should have been nominated - except that he IS eligible and he IS nominated??

See, I took it is as "He isn't eligible to be talked about because he wasn't nominated, but should have been".
These are always good for a laugh. Maya REALLY believes Audra is beating Jodie AND Jessica?

I think the idea is that Green believes Donica should be in the Best Actor category rather than Best Featured Actor.

Except he WAS nominated. Jordan Donica is nominated for a Tony for featured actor in a musical.
An error on their part I guess. And obviously they don't think he's going to win since they forgot he was nominated.
And I agree, just saw Prima Facie last night and OSM back in January. Not a chance Audra takes this.
Literally the only things I agree with on this batpoop crazy article is that DANCIN’ should’ve been nominated (kicking out CAMELOT) and Kolton Krouse should’ve been nominated (since there was more than enough room for a 6th nominee)

Um, I beg to differ! Groban gave a masterclass performance. It's gonna be EXTREMELY close between him and Ghee. Frankly, I think this will be Groban's year. I'm seeing Some Like it Hot this weekend, so my thoughts could change but it's unlikely.
Fat Ham for Choreo???
Also, Michael Arden WILL win Best Director of a Musical, without a doubt! I do agree with Green that Lear deBessonett should win for ITW. Sadly, the run ended almost five months ago. Shows that have already closed, preferably musicals, lower their chances of winning. ITW was just magnificent in its own way! Let's also just take a moment to recognize that we had TWO critically acclaimed City Center productions on Broadway this season! When was the last time something like that happened?
Once again, I completely fail to see the logic in including shows that were not Tony-eligible in these lists. Also, Audra McDonald as "Will Win" for Best Actress over Jodie Comer (or even Jessica Chastain)... that's just outright foolish.
I think most of Green's Should Win picks are likely Will Wins.
MicKinley Henderson, Ghee, Into the Woods, hell even maybe Top Dog
This is the stupidest article they publish every year.
These critics are truly terribly awards prognosticators. Some of the choices are true headscratchers.
And they continue to insist on saying productions not covered by the Tony Awards "should have been nominated" for the Tony Awards. That's completely illogical. If you want to shine a spotlight on Off-Broadway and beyond, by all means please do it. But this is just silly. As it is every year. Do they think they are actually saying something important by saying Off-Broadway shows should be nominated for a Broadway award???
These choices miss the significant number of out-of-town voters who have seen and/or have booked Into the Woods for either this season or next.
The only thing I take from these articles every year are the critics’ personal preferences of who should win. Everything else is just so wildly uninformed and nonsensical. (But Dancin’ and Krouse should have been included, I do agree.)
I really think Parade will win best revival. Maybe I’m wrong.
I think it has a major shot, for sure, given it's still running and seems to be a hit. I think it's only competition would be Into the Woods.

I've come around to this too. It just feels like Parade's moment.
