Ultimately, I just want to see Nathan Lane and Laurie M in Death of a Salesman. I'm just an audience member, I'm not an activist, I'm not the moral police or the actual police. Someone else can do that job, I just want to enjoy the show.
...
You may just be an audience member, but remember that the money you pay for your ticket to see Lane & Metcalf goes towards Scott Rudin.
Oh, another tragedy. Just what I need.

Again, not that this would be a factor for Salesman. But it’s interesting because it’s so rare."
that would make sense just like the Oscars, but I'm glad they don't have that anymore.
I feel like this time, if there are abusive behaviors, people will be less fearful of speaking out. The best way to neutralize bullies is often to simply speak out about it, because most bullies are essentially cowards too.
With that being said, I totally have Death of a Salesman fatigue.
I have never seen Death of a Salesman on stage and I've also never seen Nathan Lane or Laurie Metcalf in anything. I am going to go see this, although the Rudin situation certainly is giving me conflicting feelings.

Lane and Metcalf are always well worth seeing, but I'm just as excited about the choices for Biff and Happy. I would love to see Abbott/Charlie and Ahlers/Clock Twink on stage, though I would probably need binoculars at the Winter Garden.

I adore Christopher Abbott.

It occurs to me that we haven't had an update on the Jeffrey Wright/Octavia Spencer film adaptation in a minute. Wonder who they're planning on getting for Biff and Happy?

This has apparently been updated. Today the website says "Presale begins January 5. Public On-sale January 6."
I have no thoughts on people going to see a Rudin production, I'm no ones mother.
But I don't understand the constant urge people have to downplay his actions with that nebulous term "bullying."
We are talking about a man who slammed a computer onto an underlings hand, injuring them so badly they required a hospital visit. We are talking about a man who pushed an underling out of a moving vehicle. One of his assistants jumped off a bridge to their death and very specifically told their family working for Rudin is what drove them to that point.
Furthermore this is not a man who has made any sort of amends. He's just been around long enough to know that in entertainment, disappearing can often stand in for amends.
Bullying is a nothing term meant to help middle schoolers understand they should be nice to each other. Physically assaulting your staff members over a period of several decades is a bit more than bullying and we don't need to pretend otherwise to make ourselves feel better about lining his pockets. No one is going to arrest you for buying a ticket.

I know Laurie Metcalf was attached and there were a handful of performances of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” but I’d much rather see Lane/Metcalf in that show over this. I probably won’t get to see it, but I’m sure they’ll both deliver strong performances.

Damn. That’s a lineup!
I’m excited for John Drea and Jack Falahee. Also, isn’t Joaquin Consuelos the son of Kelly Ripa and her husband?
Just got my tickets for Sunday, May 3rd - side rear Orchestra for $89. :)

Which website did you use
I was already intrigued but this supporting cast is stacked. Can't wait.
Jack Falahee, let’s go!
I forgot to sign up for the presale - what are the prices like?

As noted above, side rear orchestra is 89. Even Rudin knows it will be hard to fill this house. Looks like more affordable seats are available toward the end of the run too
Does anyone have the presale code? I never got mine

The code is DOASFAN.

1) Thank you.
2) The fact that I got an aisle orchestra seat for $70, including fees, during previews, makes me think that hell has frozen over.
Glad to see that reasonable ticket prices are available, by today’s standards at least. But Rudin et al are savvy enough to know that Lane and Metcalf cannot command George Clooney or Denzel Washington prices, even if they are, imo, superior stage performers.
