With even the worst grosses Oh! Mary! has had, I would be surprised if there is another show...the Lyceum -- which I personally like -- has never exactly been an in-demand theatre.
I also think it would be nice to see a non-musical long-run blockbuster (other than Harry Potter, which i personally think belongs in a theme park despite its Tony awards. I assume that the presumed weekly nut will afford the opportunity for this to run a long time, which would be great. It is rare these days to have such a laugh out loud farce on the boards, and it is so especially welcome in these times.

Need someone to spill on how Tituss was. Haven't seen any reactions online yet.
TITUSS MERCH
Tituss OH, MARY! - window card, button magnet & portrait t-shirt.
Betty, Cole and more ...
Ugh what a joy that was. Titus was everything you wanted him to be, hysterical, deranged, able to mine every inch of Mary’s bratty curls and the script for all it’s worth. It was my first time seeing the show since the first preview of it on Broadway and goddamn if this isn’t a perfect comedy. I thought the new cast for Mary’s Husband and Teacher worked well also, I especially loved the swagger MH brought to the role, if Ricamora was Nixon, he’s Bill Clinton. There’s still room for Titus to grow, I believe some passages were skipped through accidentally, he had to search for a line with Bianca Leigh, and I think his mic’s mixing was off during the final medley as I had trouble hearing him (I also think he can go even further with the medley, that was Cole’s finest moment imo) but again a stellar performance. I hope he comes back after this short run!

I've been wondering who would accept joining this show after what is currently Cole's last show on June 29. The following week(weekend) is July 4 weekend and NYC and Broadway are typically dead that week. If they get another name or Tituss returns, I wonder if the show might take a one week hiatus?
I revisited the show with Betty during her last week. I preferred her to Cole, who was also great. She was slightly more deranged for me and oddly creepy in a funny way that Cole was not. I think I appreciated the script more with her in the role. It’s really subversive and funny. When. I saw it with Cole I couldn’t understand some of the dialogue. It’s easy to miss a lot.
My only complaint was I was seated next to a cackling queen. This seems to be a complaint I’ve heard from people attending this show. A superfan who was jumping on Betty’s lines with a bellowing cackle, gasping and screaming. The gay couple in front of him kept jumping from his shrieking. Afterward, several of us seated around him commiserated. We didn’t know what to say because how do you tell someone to stop laughing at a comedy. Loud cackling laughers are the worst. I don’t mind bellowing organic laughter but this was LOUD. I pity anyone who seats near this fellow. Thank god the show is short.

Went to Oh Mary last night, thought it was cute, above average 6/10, Titus was received like a superstar, and performed like one too.

By any chance did this cackling queen have a tiny little dog under their arm?
Today was my tenth time seeing the show, so I’m obviously biased, but it was easily the weakest I’ve seen it. Tituss was…fine, but, as a replacement, didn’t have nearly the grasp of the role that Betty did, and I only saw her first performance. Where Betty’s choices felt inspired, his felt lazy, and lines that I thought were bulletproof no matter who delivered them didn’t land, for me. The audience was eating it up, but I kept thinking how much I can’t wait to see Cole again.

Titus should get a special Tony for this! SOOOOOO good!

I saw the show tonight. The role is very much at its best with Cole, who I saw several months back with the original cast. Tituss was good, but not quite as flamboyantly over the top as I thought he would/could be. Parts like the "vanilla ice cream" scene were funny, but not as uproariously funny as Cole made them.
Chris Renfro impressed me. At first, I was surprised he wasn't putting on an accent as James Scully had, but I thought he got stronger and stronger as the show went on. (Plus, he's not hard to look at.)

Oh No…
I had expectations for Tituss knowing he had the ability to be camp and over the top…but this was easily the worst of the 23 times I’ve been to the show (20 Cole, 2 Betty, 1 Tituss)
While Betty seemed to the entire show on speed, Tituss was mostly subtle, almost subliminal in their characterization and some of the best lines/moments seemed drained of energy. The melodramatic “Great Day” scene seemed almost like it was out of an actual drama.
Every opportunity Tituss had to be over the top and do something comedically memorable he appeared to pass on in a very casual and dismissive way. Even his scenes with Phillip and Chris, you can see them actively doing the heavy comedic lifting in an almost over compensating way.
There were flashes of what could’ve been, but not enough. I’m not saying he needed to be Titus Andromedon or D’Fwan or a sassy black woman stereotype - but this was unfortunately a case of “Go on, girl. Give us nothing.” He was La Croix - I wanted fruity and I got a disappointing whisper.
The audience ate most of it up, naturally, but I’m starting to miss Cole more and more.

Didn't Titus call out of Moulin Rouge a bit too when he was there?
I saw the show last night - Tituss was very funny overall, but was definitely struggling with the vocals during the medley at the end / had issues projecting throughout. Not surprised he’s out tonight, sadly.

Tituss's attendance in The Little Mermaid wasn't good, either. This is only a three-week run for him, and people are paying $400+ per ticket. Congrats to Hannah, who hasn't gone on in a while.

Just read on Reddit that he was out of Moulin Rouge a lot as well.
It was certainly a mess at the theater tonight! All the staff were doing their best and were exceptionally kind, except for one house manger telling people that there were no refunds and handing out past date information as people were walking away with refund receipts from the box office.
For only a three week run, that's really unfortunate.

If the show does that to his voice this early on, I wouldn’t expect him back for a single show at this point. Time off and then returning will just mean two steps forward and two steps backward over and over.
