Heard it was a former SNL lady, but not sure if that has been finalized

Oh Jesus, that excites me even though I couldn’t even imagine who. The list of SNL ladies whose takes on Mary Todd Id love to see is loooooooong. Sadly we won’t get Miss Eggy as Mary Todd. “GOOD GAWD I love cabaret!”

I hope whoever it is isn't backing out. I'm surprised we don't have an announcement yet. Ticket sales after Jinkx leaves aren't good(but no discount code).

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Whomever it is has some enormous shoes to fill, following what Jinkx is doing with the role.

I’m dreaming of Maya Rudolph in her Broadway debut.

ACL2006 said: "any rumors on the next round of casting? Are Kumail & Urie staying past Sept. 28?"

No idea about Kumail Nanjiani, but Michael Urie begins performances in Red Bull's Richard II on October 28, so I doubt he could stay past his current contract date.

As for the hypothetical SNL lady who could be taking over: lots of possibilities, no? Guessing the likes of Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler are unlikely. Ana Gasteyer? Rachel Dratch? Aidy Bryant? Cecily Strong? I heard that Bowen has offered a summer engagement and passed.

Paula Pell would be a fun outside-the-box choice. She'd also be great as Mary's Chaperone.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Oh I’m sure Amy, Tina and Maya are pipe dreams. Doesn’t stop a homo from dreaming.

If the rumors are true that Chloe Fineman isn't returning this season, I wonder if she could be a contender? She dipped a toe in the theater world with All In, but of course that was a very different experience from doing a full role in a real play.

This show really is kind of genius in that the stunt casting is really just giving whomever an opportunity to flex some muscles they don't typically get to. I imagine they can build up quite a catalog of Mary Todd Lincoln actors/actresses to rotate through endlessly.

All the supporting roles also could be very well cast with celebrities as well.

And the fact that it’s a short show that isn’t incredibly demanding has to be appealing to big names.

Per Martin Landry, it was not. It has happened once before, though he did not specify the combination. I think it may have been an Abe/Teacher combination because (first term) Conrad had his bike accident and was out for a bit and James got sick around the same time. A Louise actress has never called out, and it sounded like Bianca didn’t even take a vacation during her run since Hannah never went on as Louise until today.

Honestly, all hail Jinkx Monsoon. The number of times I have seen this show - I know the blocking, the jokes, and where the laughs land and don’t land, and Jinkx has completely upended and reinvented the role to flex every comedic muscle she has. You can tell she has put in the work to make this role a success and it really shows. This may be one of best replacement castings I have seen in my life.

Nanjiani has gotten a lot better and more confident. He’s certainly a more perverse Abe. (I caught some new small details specific to him that made me cackle.) He remains the stoic straight man to Jinkx channeling Burnett, Crawford, Garland, and Ball all in one. Urie has refined and perfected his dashing young teacher cum sad desperate gay to pointed perfection.

Hannah was a great Louise. There isn’t much to the part, but she made it her own and Iwas not prepared with how tall Landry was (at nearly a foot taller) - and I was ready to question how he had enough room to fit under the desk
"

It’s a moment like this that I just wish was there was a tony award for a replacement cast member.

Dang, I had really hoped Urie would still be with the show when I have tickets on October 18th. Alas. The Fomo is very real, y'all.

My current dream for this is Megan Mullalley and Nick Offermann as the Lincolns.

"Former SNL Lady" is only making me think of Rachel Dratch and now I want this more than anything in the world.

There’s a part of me that thinks Dratch would be an even better Louise.

My immediate first thought was the Church Lady. I mean who doesn't want to see a 70-year-old Mary still longing for cabaret stardom?

So, Kate McKinnon was reportedly attached to be the first replacement for  Cole, and then it fell through for whatever reason, and that's how we got Betty Gilpin. So is it possible that the stars have now aligned on that? I would not be mad. But I'll be lighting a candle for it to Maya Rudolph, who would be a true gay fantasia on national themes.

And Kate McKinnon as Mary would absolutely get me to buy yet another ticket in a heartbeat.

Oh, Mary! can literally run for years with the endless casting options they have. just a matter of each actor/actress wanting to do it and fitting it in their schedule. I want to see Jinkx, but I also want to see each of the recently mentioned SNL actresses.

I’d love to see Ana Gasteyer as Louise. Molly Shannon as Mary, and Will Forte as Lincoln.

Have been thinking about this a lot lately, not only with Jinkx but with so many sensational replacements in various shows in the past couple seasons. If it were a gender-combined category they would easily fill a nominee list. It could also be very good for business as it could be a surefire way to attract big stars to shows that have started to falter --- so many people are terrified to be up against an already-praised performance, likely because the possible loss is so much more than the possible gain. If the possible gain is a Tony... I know it'll never happen, but it would be great.
