No word about Hannah being an alternate, so I guess JCM is planning to do all 8 shows/week.

I am seeeeeeeeeething with jealousy. I was planning to take a quick jaunt to London this month to see them, but it got put on hold since I have to get surgery end of this month. 😩
Curious how this will sell, I don’t foresee this being the same must-see Mary for a lot of people (I’m excited!), but I imagine this will more than keep the lights on for winter.
They have more than enough profit where they can get into more experimental/niche casting like this. If Hannah can go on as Mary for two weeks and no noticeable dent in sales is made, I could see JCM doing million-dollar business as well. It also has the added bonus of not having to contend with a swarm of buzzy new shows opening in the Spring to compete against it. They also still have other new casting to announce as well (though I know John-Andrew is staying on through JCM’s run)

Betty didn't sell out the show and it would occasionally be up on TKTS. JCM will probably be in the same situation, so we could see some discounted tickets for once. I'm sure they're already in discussions with who will come in the show after JCM. Reminder that the show is on sale through July 2026.

Now that’s the best new! We have tickets for April, and it’ll be our first time seeing the show. Glad to hear Mason is up there in those leagues! I figured, they were stunning in Cabaret.

Current cast members John-Andrew Morrison, Jenn Harris, and Tony Mach will extend their runs in the production.
How awesome!! Happy Tony is staying and that Harris and Morrison are extending for JCM's run.

A Marvel star AND one of the hot Ken dolls from the Barbie movie?! With each new casting, we stay FED!
Also, Tony Macht is gonna stay with this show until the ships goes down. He will be 80, the newest Mary hasn’t been born yet, and it will still be running.

Just thinking- there’s never been a straight man playing that role, has there? Maybe because he uses the word “fa*got?”

If you count understudies, Martin Landry is straight.

I still find it odd that they didn't wait for Cole to open the show in London
The West End reviews are interesting to read, especially when compared to the raves the production received here -- is it truly a difference in sensibilities, or some mild revenge for many of the recent West End transfers that NYC didn't like? (Critic-wise, at least.)

Originally Cole was supposed to open it. Then Cole booked a movie and they had to bring in Mason. I wonder if Cole will replace Mason over the summer?

It’s fascinating how much they wanted it to be making some broader or deeper point, even referring to it as satire. But it isn’t satire.
I wonder if Americans get a greater thrill from watching the story of our Great Lincoln being turned into something so irreverent. And if you don’t have that connection, then you need more.
In short, maybe it just doesn’t translate. (Much like folks feared Hamilton wouldn’t, though ultimately it did.)

‘Oh, Mary!’ Came to London. It’s the Raciest Show in Town.

British theatre loves to take the piss out of Americans in small ways and large ways - examples like Willie Watkins in MINCEMEAT being treated as an overly chipper and goofy American pilot, or their love of HEATHERS, which the cast I saw in 2023 said some of the direction was influenced by satirizing the normalization of American gun culture.
They also have a competing Mary Todd play starring Keala Settle (and her newly ridiculous English accent) opening soon, so maybe it’s trying to not create too much hype for the American transfer of a play that satirizes someone they’re looking to dramatize.
