I just hope that he does a better job as Prince Charming then he did in THE LAST 5 YEARS. I felt that he didn't have one "real" or "genuine" moment on stage in it. Is voice was fine but he tried to over sing most of it as well. Hopefully he will have lost those extra pounds he put on as well. However, it will be interesting to watch him grow and change as a performer as well. I hope that he does well in the role.
"For me, THEATRE is an anticipation, an artistic rush, an emotional banquet, a jubilant appreciation, and an exit hopeful of clearer thought and better worlds."

Yeah, I can't stand this musical either, and I certainly don't think Nick is going to help it any. Personally, I'm not a fan. If you enjoy hearing someone whose voice is entirely back in his throat, causing him to sound like Kermit the Frog, then you'll like Nick. Granted, it's been a while since I've worked with him (before he was an "openly gay actor" -- not that that matters at all), but I doubt his voice has changed that radically.
I'm a huge fan of Sara Schmidt, so I'm tempted to go up to MA to see this show(I'm in NY) Now that I've heard that NR is excellent, that only fuels my desire. I'm actually willing to go up to spend the day with my grandma in order to see the show!

Wow - this thread is getting vicious! I think this kid works out at my gym - I've seen him there a lot. I always assumed he was a performer of some sort, I mean- THAT HAIR...lol...anywho - I did shows with Paolo many years ago - now HE'S a real sweetheart. I'm glad to see his career has taken off.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!"

Well, at least he isn't Greg Louganis (sp?) I saw him do Cinderella in Long Beach....
Talk about a stinker.
Oh, and Nick is a charming person who happens to be dating the Assistant Director for Hairspray, Matt Lenz

LOL redhot- we must go to the same gym! I see him all the time also, and I didn't know he was a performer, but I did think "Hmm, he's cute, but that HAIR!"
Cheno - yup - Crunch. I actually don't get to that location much anymore - but I've seen him at 38th street.
I heard that tour of Cinderella was pretty rotten - I don't like that script at all - the updates, to me, just don't work. I think the TV script that was used in the Lesley Ann Warren version is the best.

He worked out at at Bally's when he was doing "Nefertiti" in Ft Laud. We all knew who he was because the gay press gave him huge coverage. The hair is a turn off for me... Updated On: 7/11/05 at 01:11 PM

yeah - I always thought he should cut it. It's just such a dated look.

I saw him here in Raleigh in L5Y and really enjoyed his performance. WonderBoy, maybe you saw an off-night (or I saw a particularly good night). I thought he had a great voice and brought a lot of real emotion to the part.
"She sang each word, the angels heard ... They closed her mouth and shipped her south. The woman's done."
So I revisited Tarzan tonight, and my eyes gandered quite a bit when this guy came on. I had no idea he has a following, I never heard of him. If he was on as Tarzan, I might gather up the nerve to endure the show again.

Now, didn't this production of Cinderella burn the theatre down?

It's a Nicholas Rodriguez two-for-Tuesday! About three hours after passing his fine self getting out of the subway, do I find out that he's rumoured to be tapped for a short-term gig as a gay character on OLTL this summer
**SPOILER** Supposedly, he'll be used part of the upcoming gay storyline between Kyle and Oliver, as Kyle's ex brought back to make Oliver jealous!

Why does the title of this thread have to say OPENLY GAY in it? Will the show be different if the leading man were straight? What does one's sexual orientation have to do with anything?
I DID see him in The Last 5 Years in Raleigh, NC at Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy. He was opposite Kate Shindle. And both were terrific!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
