Thank you in advance for any help. I read the boards a tonne when we headed to New York last fall and appreciate all the information sharing! My husband and I are heading to NYC again (from Toronto) at the end of November and have narrowed down our choices for Broadway shows to the following (but open to others!!):
- Curious Incident
- Spring Awakening
- Beautiful
- School of Rock
We only have 2 nights (Sunday & Monday). Last year we saw Cabaret with Allan Cumming and Emma Stone and really loved it. We also saw A Delicate Balance with Glenn Close and John Lithgow which we thought was ok (was fun to see the cast though!). We just saw Kinky Boots in Toronto so that's out. Would have picked Hedwig for this trip if it was still around. Thanks so much!!
Editing to say - we will likely only dedicate one night to Broadway and use the other night to have dinner/catch some music :)

Curious Incident and either School of Rock/Spring Awakening
Curious Incident.
Hedwig is gone.
You can see a Curious matinee and a Spring Awakening evening show on a Sunday, which still leaves your Monday open for other things.
I saw the original run of "Spring Awakening" and it was great, reviews of this revival have been very good.
Like said before you could do a matinee AND an evening on Sunday with SPRING AWAKENING having an evening performance. That said the #1 choice should absolutely be SPRING AWAKENING. Believe me, you do NOT want to miss this production! It is life altering and Earth shatteringly good and is quite a limited engagement. The others, in theory, you should be able to catch in the future or on tour.

I would reccomend going to Spring Awakening on monday because it's one of the few shows that have a monday show. And Sunday matinee for Curious Incident leaves you open to see Aladdin, Book of Mormon, Chicago, Hand to God, Les Miserables, Lion King, Matilda, or Wicked all of which have night shows on Sundays.

Thank you all for the feedback!
Ug! So it looks like it's down to Curious Incident vs. Spring Awakening...anyone else want to chime in? I know we could fit both in but we are only in NYC for two days so we want to spend some time out and about as well :)
Thanks again!

SPRING AWAKENING You will never see anything like it.

I reiterate, CURIOUS isn't going anywhere anytime soon and is going to tour. SPRING is strictly limited and more than likely will not. If you are limiting yourself to just one show, go with SPRING and catch CURIOUS later. This is especially true since the original, Tony winning guy just left the show so you'll be seeing an alternate cast anyway no matter when you see it.

100% Spring Awakening
You will never have a chance to see a production like this again and you do not want to miss it. It is so incredible beautiful and moving and there is no doubt in my mind that this is the choice.
Hope you have fun!

You can't go wrong with either one. Plus you are talking play vs musical. Curious is an amazing play and the production is top notch. SA is not my favorite show but the beauty and uniqueness of this production is just not to be missed. If you possibly will come back in the near future, see SA now as its a limited run.
I would definitely recommend going with Spring Awakening.
Slight thread jack - Maddie I LOVE your profile pic!!!
I'll throw another vote in for Spring Awakening, especially since it's a limited run!

Thanks everyone for your help! Yesterday I finally made my choices...ended up buying the Sunday matinee for Spring Awakening and after reading so many postitive reviews on the board for Therese Raquin, I bought primo primo Orchestra tickets for that one Monday night. Didn't mean to do 2 shows but at least we have Sunday night still for some night life/music.
Thank you all!

Curious Incident is one of the most amazing productions I have ever seen. The story is very straightforward, the visual images are amazing, the lead actor is giving an incredible performance. Great night in the theatre.

Spring Awakening - one of the most incredible theatrical experiences I've ever seen - and I saw the OBC a few years back.
This is a must see.
