Lol
Everyone at Disney involved in this decision should be fired.

Kevin Zak script doctored on Death Becomes Her? This is the first I'm hearing about that.
Do we think it will be actual puppetry work or just the Muppets in prerecorded video segments?

I think they needed to put a bit more money into it. It would have been lovely with a special musical guest star. Just the addition of one more surprising guest artist would have given it a lift and a nod in the direction of a variety show.

There will be a different celebrity guest at every performance.

Well according to Playbill's article "He made a splash on America's Got Talent in 2018, and has since toured the world with his magic act, and served as creative consultant and illusion designer for Adele's Las Vegas residency. On Broadway, Lake also helped design illusions for Death Becomes Her."

The fact that this is how The Muppets make their Broadway debut shows that Disney has absolutely zero idea what to do with these characters and that is really depressing
also Disney Theatrical is not listed anywhere as a producer/co-producer on this

Poor Muppets, defunded and bullied by Trump and now reduced to a backup act on Broadway. SAD.

Maybe not quite Carrie Fisher levels, but yeah. He was brought on in Chicago. I don’t know his official billing, but he was in the room with the creatives in between out-of-town and Broadway.

I’m sure this was meant as a joke, but The Muppets are owned by Disney and are not tied to Sesame Street or PBS.
While I’d prefer a full show with just The Muppets, I don’t think the current Muppet performers would necessarily want to do 8 shows a week on Broadway, even for a limited run. I can’t even imagine the logistics it would require to pull that off. By doing it this way, it seems they’ll be able to cycle through different Muppets throughout the run. But who knows? Maybe this is a test to see how well Kermit and the gang do on Broadway, and a bigger, more Muppet-centric production will come in the future.
But yes, the title is horrible. Couldn’t they have called it ROB LAKE: MAGIC AND MUPPETS or something like that?

I think the negative reaction is more disappointment that Muppet’s Christmas Carol is not happening, and a Las Vegas magic act is taking its place.
I wonder if this will be like that god-awful Michael Feinstein/Dame Edna show where nobody wanted to see Michael and the audience just fell asleep until the real star came back onstage.

Wow, catchy title."
It should be switched to The Muppets Magic Show with Special Guest Rob Lake. Nobody knows who Rob Lake is."
A lot of people know who he is and he happens to be quite talented.
Re DBH script doctoring: Marco Pennette was definitely placed on leave at some point between Chicago and Broadway, so it would make sense they brought in someone else to work on the script.
Hearing this is doing Yondr punches because Kermit shows full frontal.

Broadwayworld negative? I'm shocked.
I slways try to be positive. For example I might say, "I positively hated whatever show." OR " I positively want to see every performer in such & such show tarred & feathered." It's so important to stay positive.

I have never heard of him. I just watched the announcement video and thought he had zero charisma in that, and he clearly asks Kermit if they want to join him for AN illusion. So I think people going in expecting a Muppets heavy show are going to be sorely disappointed. And it will undoubtedly be the finale of the show so people don’t watch the muppets then leave (as some commenter on YouTube said they planned to do).
Muppet fans are surely rejoicing after their months long grieving of Muppet*Vision 3D.
I came to the board today to see the reaction to the impending Muppets show. I agree that Rob Lake has zero charisma. He seems a bit bland, but I’ve never been much of a magic fan… but I love The Muppets. I’m wondering what this will look like.
I got tix to Sesame Street Off-Broadway for my nieces. Both of them got sick on the day of the performance-so I went by myself. 😳 Not going to lie, but I felt a little weird. Also, I wanted to see the show more than they did.
Anyway, this is stating the obvious but muppets are small. I feel like they will be swallowed up in a Broadway house. For Sesame, they built up the stage to conceal the puppeteers. I’m wondering about the logistics.
If there’s only one muppet guest each night, I hope they post who will be appearing ahead of time. For the price of a Broadway ticket, I want to be able to choose who I see. Obviously Piggy would be my first choice.
Wish we knew the show schedule. Will this non-traditional show offer some performances at non-traditional times?

It looks like what I would type into Google if I couldn't remember the actual name of the show and was just trying to spam keywords to find it.
