Not to mention it's been announced and people have subscribed. You don't mess with this until you're forced to.

One reason I heard as to why The Full Monty was being dropped from this season was because they apparently couldn’t find a star interested in the material (including the big strip at the end).

In terms of stage nudity, THE FULL MONTY is barely a blip on the scandal scale, especially since we had Jesse Williams showing full- out Tony nominated hog just a few short years ago.

What ended up happening was that the lead (playing Jerry) they had cast ended up developing severe vocal nodules (which affected him during the workshop), and so he needed to bow out in order to have surgery and make a full recovery.

Does anyone know who was cast in the FULL MONTY revival? I'm assuming the cast was already in place -- or most of them -- since the cancellation has come pretty late in the game.

I do feel bad for Leigh Silverman - Full Monty is actually her pet project and I remember seeing her in an interview during the Tony Awards where she said she was excited to finally be doing this show. I imagine Roundabout calling her and saying “Sorry Girl! We have Paul Giamatti on the other line, he wants to do a Eugene Ionesco, we will circle back on Monty”

Also included in the reading were Phillip Boykin (Once on This Island), Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels), Greg Hildreth (Frozen), Kenita R. Miller (Once on This Island), Natalie Cortez (A Chorus Line), Alysha Umphress (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago), Rachel Stern (Girl from the North Country), Raymond J. Lee (Groundhog Day), Trevor Salter (Here Lies Love), Jaygee Macapugay (School of Rock), Jonathan Raviv (The Band's Visit) and Julian Lerner (Les Misérables).

There was talk of this being a Jason Segel vehicle at one point too, and given that his three strengths are gentle vulnerability, musical theatre and unselfconscious nudity, he would have been a good fit.

I'm guessing Paul Giamatti, who received fine reviews , is unavailable.

Tony Shalloub for Paul Giamatti isn't a cast substitution that would immediately come to mind, but I'm sure he'll be wonderful.

And it's a Monk reunion!
