Kind of like Beanies first few shows. The level of baloney was palpable."

Right? Among my favorites were "She killed it!" and "She's a starrrrrr!!!!"

Yeah. Nah.

As more positive reviews come in, I think that's a good indication that it's a solid, fun show that is worth seeing.

Across the street I ran into ALW on the stairs up to the 2nd floor at Sardi's prior to the show, but his body language told me to keep moving, sister! So I did.

The sound was much improved last night -- dialogue was crystal clear (3rd time seeing it), though Daphne wore a different red dress, not nearly as flashy as the original, and Sugar Kane's yellow dress at the end is a head scratcher.

It's so much fun to watch the actors finding their grooves -- in places that last week got big laughs, last night there was also applause. The audience is having a ball, though the ending does feel unfinished.

There is so much A+++ talent onstage and behind the scenes. The audience can't get enough of Natasha Yvette Williams -- and Kevin Del Aguila (Sweet Sue and Osgood) -- so it's way more than a starring vehicle for Christian Borle, J. Harrison Ghee, and Adrianna Hicks. The whole ensemble is in the final "chase" scene -- it is so much fun to watch -- this is the kind of show NYC needs right now.

Bill Snibson said: "It's very tough to take the overly enthusiastic reviews of either 'invited dress" or first preview as gospel truth. These audiences always seem to be overly excited and filled with rabid fans. It isn't until a week or two later that a more honest review of a show comes out."

Well, when I got a ticket I didn't even realize it was the first preview.  On my way to the theatre I was planning on leaving at intermission because I figured, first preview (I found out a day or so before) maybe I'll leave at intermission.  I wasn't really feeling this show before I went because I'm frankly tired of movie to musical transfers but I was shocked at how good the first preview was.

I saw SLIH, Strange Loop, Almost Famous & Shooting Star last week and SLIH was the highlight of the week.  Hoping to see it again before it opens to see what changes if any were made but it's going to be big.

I really wanted to like Back To The Future:The Musical and was severely disappointed and now I keep getting their ads on social media for the June opening.  It was horrible and guess they're trying to get all those advance tickets before word gets out.

Saw this last night and LOVED it!

It took me a bit to get into it, but I was hooked after the train station scene. I think it was specifically the line about them paying the kids to steal the instruments and then the "this is the earliest I've ever been late" line that really got me!

I thought the music was fantastic and I can't wait for a cast album. It definitely had a specific vibe, but I didn't feel like it was too similar. Some Like it Hot, Let's Be Bad, and You Could've Knocked Me Over With a Feather were the standouts for sure. I think the latter will become a new standard for Trans and Non-binary performers.

I thought the sets were great. There wasn't complete stage transformations in the way you might see at something like Moulin Rouge, but there were definitely set changes (which I know people had asked about). I didn't think it looked cheap and it was marvelously lit.

I thought the performances were also marvelous with Ghee and Del Aguila stealing the show. Their romance and Jerry/Daphne's coming out were the storylines I was most invested in.

I thought the story was strong overall. There are still some man-in-a-dress tropes coming from the dramatic irony of the situation, but obviously Jerry/Daphne ends up coming out and I think they did a good job at hammering home that Joe is a terrible person whose actions are deceptive and hurting everyone around him.

I was in TDF seats in Mezz Row D and the view was great! Those seats are still some of the most cramped I've ever experiences, but it was worth it for this show. The Shubert Theater continues it's win streak.

I was there, too, last night, sitting in the balcony with the adorable screaming teens right behind me -- I loved their enthusiasm -- turns out they were a drama club from a PA high school -- they loved the show BIG TIME.

Loved the "side gigs" that ran as connecting dots through the show -- the blond who kept going to the wrong apartment, Joe being "teased" by Sweet Sue -- love it when the ensemble gets to step into the spotlight and shine -- and when everyone plays such crucial parts during the 'chase scene' at the end. It only took 63 years to figure out how to do this film right onstage.

Worth the wait.

I LOVED the recurring gag about the woman going into the wrong apartments! It got me every time!

Also TOTALLY forgot to mention that Billy Porter was there last night! I saw him coming out of the bathroom and it reminded me of a book I had as a little kid, "Everyone Poops." This definitely seems like the show to see for the who's who of the theatre world right now.

Caught this on Thursday night and kept thinking that the last time I saw a Broadway musical comedy with this much punch was SOMETHING ROTTEN.  The difference between SOMETHING ROTTEN and SOME LIKE IT HOT is that the latter has real heart at its core.

This is the bombastic musical comedy that Broadway needed to wake it up post-Covid shut down.  Shaiman and Wittman have turned out their best score since HAIRSPRAY and the book is surprisingly tight for a show that didn't have an out of town tryout.  Casey Nicholaw keeps the show moving and his direction/choreography is sufficient if not uninspired.

J. Harrison Ghee has every award coming their way and rightfully so.

This is the best representation for non-binary folks in a Broadway musical that I could have hoped for.  Too often someone's queer identity is the source of conflict; here we have a celebration of queer joy and living your truth.  I was as moved as I was entertained.

I'll be sending all of my family and friends to the Shubert as this is at the top of my list of shows that anyone would love on a date night, girls night out, etc.

I saw this tonight and my eyes closed a lot, I think I even fell asleep for a few minutes. Not impressed, but not terrible either.

As I head towards 50 I find I no  longer have the energy to go out Friday nights after a long work week.  I made the mistake of going out a few weeks ago & snoozed through something that I shouldn't have.

This is a hot show for Broadway insiders.

Last night Constantine Maroulis, Michael Greif, Bruce Sussman & Graham Norton were all in the audience.

Marc Shaiman was chatting and looked VERY VERY happy.

I did see Constantine and you forgot to name me, I'm a bigger celebrity than all of those together! (joke haha), do you mean BBC's Graham Norton?

Sounds like the digital lottery is easy to win, or they're not getting many entrants. Have had several friends win the lottery this week on different days.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Yet I’ve lost every single day and went to TKTS and got row A, which is not my favorite, but it was way cheaper than what they were selling for at the box office.

I have such mixed feeling about this show.

Unlike the movie, instead of laughing at two men in dresses - we are now laughing at one! It all made me feel very uncomfortable.

Instead of doing 'Some Like It Hot,' maybe this talented team should have done an original musical instead.

Plus, the inspectors in drag at the end, has to go.

My friend was offered second to the last row of the Balcony for rush ticket. Is this the common rule? I dont think The Balcony at The Shubert is not worth it even for rush tickets, or are they good for this production?

I sat up there, though a few rows lower than that, and actually loved the seats because right behind us were a bunch of teenagers who loved the show big time, were very noisy and enthusiastic (some might not like that, but I do). I'm familiar with the feeling when a show's magic doesn't reach that far into the house, but this one did.

Can I ask a few follow up questions? Just curious because I think they did a really good job of making it as inclusive and respectful as possible (just from my perspective). What about the investigator/inspector in drag needs to go? It’s a disguise bit for the chase scene, not a commentary on anything.

As for ‘only laughing at one’, please correct me if I’m wrong (have seen it twice and going back for a third later), but they’re not really laughing at A Man In A Dress, they’re laughing at Borle’s character being old and for making things awkward (which is essentially his character prior to the drag anyways).

I’m interested in these conversations because they’re necessary for our societal progress, on both sides - sometimes we as allies have blind spots and miss the mark despite good intentions, and sometimes people have their own insecurities and preconceptions that they’re quick to defend without actually examining what they’re going against.

For me, at the end of the day the story is a comedy based on two men in drag. While great care has been paid to one of these characters, less has been paid to the other.

The creative team is working so hard to make this story right for today, I feel like they might be better just doing a different story.

What you saw as a funny disguise, I saw as a police officer in a dress, wig and lipstick.

There's nothing mutually exclusive about the two. It can be both things.
