To be fair, the "fine print" said that $15.95 tickets subject to availability. Applicable only to specified performance date and times. All sales final; no refunds or exchanges. Seating restrictions may apply. Telephone/ Internet orders subject to Telecharge.com service fees. Prices subject to change and offer may be revoked at any time. Limit 4 tickets per order.
...seating restrictions may apply... They weren't completely lying. All tickets that are currently on sale are only $15.95. Do I think how they worded it was right? No. But still...
And iluvtheatertrash, is it really so terrible that you set an alarm to wake up and buy tickets for a Broadway show for less than $20 in your pjs and then go back to sleep? There were plenty of people in line at the box office who were there far earlier than 8am who had similar issues with seating!
Regardless, this will very quickly become a hot ticket and I'm certainly grateful for the cheap tickets!

I'm not saying that as if I'm the only one who was disappointed. I just was telling my story. If I was outside on the street, I would've been even more angry.
Got a seat in Left Orchestra, Row E on second try online. It's a great deal for what is hopefully a fun night of theatre. If not, it was just $22 (with fees). Can't beat that.
Got my tickets, and I'm pretty excited. They're in the mezzanine but can't complain for the price.
I went to the box office this morning around 9:15am and got four tickets in the center mezz on the aisle for the first preview. What a fantastic deal. Glad I was around to take advantage!

Got an operator at 8:01 and got Orch Row H, 5th and 6th seat on left. Not bad. I was told these were the "best" available for the night I chose. Yes, the wording about "all seats" was a little deceptive, but so it goes. I'm satisfied.
Were there a lot of people in line at the box office this morning?

iluvtheatertrash, you're complaining about a front row mezzanine seat? I don't understand. That's a great seat. In any theater, but especially at the St James.
I logged onto Telecharge at 10:30 and thought the entire orchestra for all three performances had sold out :O
Regardless, I was happy to get two center mezzanine seats for the first preview! I haven't been to a first preview performance since Lestat (...) so I'm looking forward to it! Even if they end up offering student / general rush for this show, you'll never find tickets for $22.
At this point, the rear mezzanine is still available, plus almost the entire balcony, for the Tuesday performance.
There were three people in front of me at the box office. By the time I left, I think there were three or four people behind me. Not a long wait at all. I was pleasantly surprised.
Just a few people in line at 1015am ..... picked up 3rd row front mezz center section for the last of the 3 performances at this price/
Funny how different we are. If they said "pick ANY seat in the house" I'd have chosen a seat in the front row of the mezzanine -- absolutely my favorite place to sit. And if the center section of the front row of the mezzanine were taken I'd be perfectly happy with a seat in the side section of that row (unless it was completely at the end. In fact I just saw Side Show from about the middle of a side section of the front row mezzanine at that theatre. It was the seat I CHOSE just after tickets went on sale. It was perfect!
I am grateful to the producers/marketing team of Something Rotten! for taking this $15.95 initiative for the first 3 preview days. I think it's a great way to get theater lovers in the seats. If the show is good, it should pay off in huge dividends with word of mouth.
I got my tickets and can't wait to spread the love, provided it's good.
Patash, I agree with you that the first-row mezzanine can be a really good seat, but occasionally the bar is a bit in the way. I hadn't sat there at the St. James, so I opted for mezz row B. Also, it is such a thrill for me to be able to sit in the center orchestra, because I don't get to sit there too often because of what I can afford to pay for seats. So I was a bit disappointed to log on this morning promptly at 8 a.m. to see a huge swath of the orchestra not available.
But I do agree that it's a great idea, and I wish more producers would emulate it!

I have two tickets for Tuesday, March 24th Orchestra K Seats 17-19 for sale. My wife and I are unable to go this night and I had to re-buy for the next night.
I paid $42 for both, and selling for the same price I paid.
Please email me at dreamsneverfade@aol.com if interested.
Thanks.

I was pretty pissed when I went to buy tickets and the attendant told me that there was no center orchestra available. The sign outside touting the $15.95 price says in capital letters ALL SEATS. It's very misleading of the producers.
I got 2 seats for Tuesday. Middle of the mezz on the aisle, can't complain.
been having trouble with telecharge.com all day with getting tickets. I can never get the site to fully process my order. I'll have to call them directly tomorrow.
also, are the seats in the balcony section decent(view, comfort, etc.) at the St. James? I have a feeling that's all that'll be left tomorrow.
^ as far as comfort goes, the St. James has the worst leg room I have every endured in a theatre... granted I am 6' 3".
I'm 6'2", so it's always a concern for me.
The James has terrible leg room in the mezzanine no matter how tall one is... you feel so cramped elbowing the person to your left and right if that is the case and your knees are flush against the seats in front of you. I highly suggest an aisle seat as I always try to get one at this theater no matter what for the outlet and breathing room.
Terribly uncomfortable theater...orchestra is no better. Forget the balcony in general it's never open and so far up you feel as if you're in another theater watching a show and no show can fill that space without a star-celebrity or revival of a popular musical... so why bother.
Good Luck SR you will need it without an out of town tryout, no stars, no nothing...just a rotten gimmick for cheap preview seats so far which I highly support and wish more producers would follow suit in the future. I want it to be successful but Side Show had no luck in selling that freak concept and just look at the reviews it received...How are they gonna sell the "Something Rotten" concept to the general public better yet the tourists?
"It's the 1590s, and brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar known as 'The Bard.' When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical."
Don't see it, next show for the St. James ...Fiddler or the future Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Hi Robbie2. I never post anything but I have to respond after reading your comments about SR. I can tell you that SR is the funniest and most entertaining piece of musical theatre to come along in years. The energy and audience response was fantastic from the beginning and this musical has something for everyone. No one can predict what tourists will do, but as supporters of Broadway we need to be positive and remember that hits do happen, even at the St. James!

And your connection to this show is...?
"The James has terrible leg room in the mezzanine no matter how tall one is... you feel so cramped elbowing the person to your left and right if that is the case and your knees are flush against the seats in front of you."
I've never had an elbow or knee issue there. It's not all that bad.
