It’s gonna be really cool to see the show again in a couple weeks knowing every word to these songs. I wonder how it’ll heighten the experience of watching the play - I feel like it’s going to have an even more “documentary” feel to it.
“Masquerade” is the most obvious single (ironic, given it’s status in the play), and “Bright” is the emotional focal point, but I’m really enjoying “Drive” in its full version. It’s the first song we hear them actually play, so it has to be a hook, and it really is.
East of Eden is really sticking with me more than others. Finding it difficult to determine my favorite version of Bright, each is so distinct and stunning.
I’ve now listened to this (start to finish) five times. “East of Eden” is my favorite song which isn’t really a surprise to me as just that one verse in the show was my favorite bit of music. But this entire album is beyond perfect and is not only my favorite score of the year but just maybe my favorite album period.

Feel free to put this in a spoiler tag, but is there a song sung by Holly in the show and/or on the cast recording? Asking for a friend who is still mourning the person who that character is perhaps vaguely based on. :)

The cast recording has two songs with her listed as the main singer. I do remember at least one in the show and think the other is album only.
Canfield is also really really good in the show and Holly’s one of the more sympathetic characters.
