PR move, she still believes in the same awful things"
Yep. She likely didn't even write that herself. The box office probably got slammed today and they needed to clean this up ASAP."
Of course PR people would be involved in either the writing or editing. They are specifically paid to help stars manage controversial situations. Wouldn't surprise me if a producer or two also was a part of the effort.

Except this has nothing to do with race. It might be a good idea to educate yourself a bit more. Also, there is another thread which is more about the elections. Let's discuss Sunset Blvd here.

Oh, great. Seb wants to get back to demanding people explain what they liked about this production.

Strangely enough people seem to be much more objective and honest about why they do or don't like her performance, since 3 days. I wish this honesty and substantiation was always there.

Her Norma felt like an insincere clown show with stellar vocals. Like a drag queen poking fun at Norma with a SUNSET tribute mashup—with all the knowingcampiness of “those famous lines” etc. I didn’t believe her outside of the songs. Why the ridiculous stage gymnastics and splits? It was all as if the director and star wanted to telegraph that they thought this role, woman and material was ridiculous. So why bother? She is a talented pop vocalist, sure, but character and true storytelling is not happening here. It’s all extremely studied vocal dynamics and calculated emotional affectations in the songs—supported by a very talented sound design team. Not powered by the truth of a real actor like the likes of Glenn, Patti, Betty, etc. I think she betrays herself by telling us she thinks she’s ridiculous/campy, so we can never trust her to protect Norma’s heartgoing forward. Not the work of a serious actress.
"
This is actually well described and sums up my thoughts pretty well. I think she is mainly a victim of bad direction.

I don't think this is a fair comparison. The text (lyrics) actually matched the characters in the film. Both Norma and Joe never broke the 4th wall. It really is not comparable.
There is a difference between "sincere camp" (in the film) and "taking the piss camp" (in the revival). In the first kind of camp her "being larger than life" is indeed part of the story. In the revival it is not.

No, it's a parody post. Sorry--I didn't say so because I thought it was obvious. Guess not.

So I thought it was parody but honestly would’ve preferred it to the one we got
Most know this already but Caroline Bowman announced on her podcast that she's leaving Sunset as the standby for Nicole because she's playing Karen in Smash.
So, the questions is: I wonder who willl be taking over her spot...Anyone?
Also, with all the drama going on now with Nicole..... will she go on before she leaves?
Never in my life would I think that Seb’a vendetta to trash the show again is suddenly comforting. Welcome back!!!

I agree 100% with you here and I don't like this production in general because it clearly hates the material and actively works against it rather than trying to serve it.
HOWEVER, that said...
The infiltration has been going on right under our nose for decades without us being aware of the scale. The UK can't be saved anymoreand laws are already being changed there.
This is utter nonsense and suggests to me you have not been to the UK recently. I live in Britain and none of what you say is true. The only time I have heard this kind of nonsense is from extreme far right pages in Britain and from Fox News et al in the States. They also make up stuff about 'no go zones' and Sharia law, none of which is true. No laws have been changed either to benefit so-called "Islamists". The others are right when they say you have been radicalized, so I would strongly suggest reviewing what media you are consuming.

In the film, Joe is a narrating corpse. I'd say he's very aware he's in a story.
In general, I think the references to the Pussycat Dolls and Lloyd Webber in the musical are very much in the spirit of the original film, which played off Gloria Swanson's past. For example when Joe and Norma are watching an old Norma movie, it was a real silent film starring Gloria Swanson that had been directed Erich von Stroheim, the actor playing Max.
Or how Cecil B. DeMille calls Norma "young fella", his nickname for Swanson from the actual silent films they made together.

Cecil B. DeMille was a man:

Thanks for the clarification! I thought he was the exit sign. (I fixed the typo)
I thought I would ask again as my last post got lost in all the back and forth in this thread yesterday.
Would anyone happen to know if Tom Francis is back in the show for the weekend?
Thanks

I wasn't going to react anymore on this, but be careful with this kind of statements. I am consuming media from all sides and also neutral platforms. The fact that the left media hides so much is very dangerous, as people will live beside reality. Everything I say is substantiated with facts. The islamic hunt on Jews and homosexuals in Europe is real. Yesterday Israel had to send 2 rescue planes to Amsterdam to save Israeli tourists from the warzone called Amsterdam. Allowed by the mayor, gangs were kicking them in the heads, throwing them in the canals while bleeding, many hid in hotels all over the city and infiltrated islamic hotel- and casino receptionists and other employees led them to their rooms. There were 1250 police officers, of which many Muslims, who made 0 arrests. Actually zero. I will leave it at this for now, but the fact that you are only aware of what left news tells you, can never be used as an argument.
Now, back to Sunset Blvd.
At least four people have been arrested. And from what I’ve observed, people who claim to read “all sources” tend to give the most credence to low quality sources that tell them what they already believe.
Maybe just stick to having disproportionately passionate feelings about mediocre megamusicals, which you have been doing here for years under different usernames, almost always ending up taking a distinctly bigoted tone.

She claims this was a "mistake", Honey, you posed with Russel Brand (Trump supporter and accused of sexual misconduct) and a MAGA hat. You're not that good of an actress to pull that off.
Is there any news about the possible filming of this show? Someone on here said that Jamie Lloyd was interested in that.
Personally I think that Tom and Nicole deserve to be in a better, more sincere production of Sunset, either on stage or an actual feature film (if she can act it).
I heard that Muslims must not be exposed to daylight, must not be fed after midnight, and must NOT come into contact with water. Scary times we live in.
