Wanted to ask the same question. I saw the show twice in London and got Grace's u/s both times. Only the third time when I saw the show on Bway I got to finally see Grace.
You have to go to the box office armed with information. They already have your money so of course they will exchange you for lesser seats. Glad you prevailed. Glad you are waiting for Tom to be back. Neither understudy seems to be up to par.

I will be in the city early and I am going to the box office to see if I can get my tickets changed for another week. These were expensive and I would rather see it with the normal cast. Since they are not above the title names.. will they allow the exchange? My train is arriving in the city in one hour."
I don't know but I saw a short clip of Diego Andres Rodriguezsinging the title song and he sounds fantastic."
I saw Diego twice and he was incredible. I do want to go back to see Tom, though!

I think Diego is a star! He reminded me of a young Ralph Macchio. He was completely credible as Joe.
I’m gonna be visiting New York next weekend and I have only two opportunities to see the show Saturday night or a Sunday matinee. November 23 and 24th
looking for a single ticket, at this point should I just go to the box office or go to TKTS or does anybody else have any suggestions? I wonder how bad it will be
She was on Wednesday night. I've been mulling a review, but I will say she was great. Some earlier posters suggested that her Betty was only using Joe for his writing ability and didn't really care about him. I was concerned because that's very much not in the text, and thankfully that's not how she played it. She played it with the genuine sense of feeling the relationship and the story requires. And was just generally very good.

I found Grace absolutely delightful, I hung on her every word! I actually cared about this couple this time; rather than being impatient to get back to the mansion.

Not sure what you concern is as I just checked SeatGeek and lots of tickets are available.

I was fortunate to see the entire cast in previews and completely agree with this. I never realized how in previous productions how much the show slowed when Norma was out of focus - but Grace/Tom and Diego as Artie (with the direction of the production of course) really added depth to these characters and relationships.
It was announced in a few places yesterday that Pierre Marais is going on as Max on 11/22, and I think some people may have misinterpreted that as last night.
Hated this show, but was thrilled by its leading lady. Give her a Tony and shut the thing down. I found the choreography, mostly in the songs with the ensemble, ridiculous (why are we twerking in 1945?!), the lack of sets and even props disappointing (why are these tickets so expensive?!), the modern black and white costumes jarring (if you’re going for a movie “black and white movie” theme, why can’t they be old black and white fashions?!), and the videography a complete distraction and a copy of other shows that already tried it. Can we, as an audience, not be trusted to realize that the struggles a woman faced with aging in 1945 still apply today? Does it have to be so overtly thrown in our faces?
Scherzinger is this show. Her “Never Said Goodbye” was incredibly moving and powerful. That’s the only reason to see this show.

I understand ppl have diff tastes. But you missed / or ignored / or were not able to get the gist of this Jamie Lloyd’s production while still cheering for Nichole for whom this production is created for
DramaTeach said: "Pretty sure I got it. If you don’t think so, I’d like to hear your thoughts."
I got it too, but unfortunately wasn't moved by Scherzinger's histrionics.
Despite many on this board and many critics heaping on the praise, I didn't feel any true subtlety or nuance from her performance...simply an approximation of depth that felt to me like a sad, overdirected caricature.
Even though the production is attempting to be a commentary/critque/satire of social media/discarding yesterday's starlets/fame, without the human connection it's a cold, cold show with a posturing leading lady who can raise the rafters with her vocal technique.
I understand that people were initially critiquing this show for silly reasons (why are they using laptops????). And yes, those people didn’t “get it”. But it’s a bit ridiculous that every nuanced, well-considered critique here has been met with a chorus of “you don’t get it”. Yes, Jamie Lloyd is a bit avant- garde, but this is still a mainstream Broadway show that doesn’t require some galaxy brain IQ to understand.
There have been a handful of comments recently that very accurately describe what this production is trying to do, and they’re still getting told they don’t understand. Why, with this specific production, is it so unfathomable to believe someone could both understand and dislike it?
Having a slow day, but here’s a youthful looking 65(?) yo Gloria Swanson making a mystery guest appearance on 1965’s WML. I don’t detect a line or wrinkle, Health food? SB is mentioned briefly.
Omg Diego is literally like watching a star born on stage. I would be nervous about that understudy being on too much. By far the best Joe Ive ever seen, and I’ve seen both Tom and his London understudy.
With that charisma, looks and talent this person will not be in the background for long. It was literally like watching something like Tom Holland on stage.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Diego covered max today?!"
Diego covered Joe Gillis and Brandon Lavar covered Artie Shaw today (Nov 17).
