I’m sure it will by the way- but never say never.

Hmm. It's slated for a production in Los Angeles but now I'm torn....

Not necessarily awkward. Awards aren't the be-all-end-all for which shows should/could/will get return engagements. Especially in a year like this.
I'm sure the producers feel that it has a better chance this time around for a variety of reasons - whether they're right or not, is a different question.

I also think that Jordan may feel that, as the owner of the only theatre the name of which celebrates a black theatrical figure, it is appropriate to make the venue available for those following in Wilson's footsteps if not legacy.

I read this play for a college class... it is WEIRD to say the least, but hey, it did make me think.
Is the Wilson run open-ended or another limited engagement like 2019-20?

Thought it was unpolished and incredibly shallow on the issues it tried desperately to (but unable to adequately) address despite the raves it got. Still good to see a commercial play resume performances in this day and age. The Sound Inside was easily the best play out of all the nominees, nothing profusely melodramatic nor intellectually condescending. The great performances elevated the already stellar script.

I loved this play and this production on Broadway but what sense could this possibly make? Didn't this already lose quite a bit of money? Without some kind of major star... why would anyone think they could attract a larger audience... particularly in a post-Covid environment?

I have a feeling it is to film it, much like the reason Waitress came back.

Yeah, not sure about the demand for this. The grosses were low and the show was heavily comped. It limped along through its “extension.” I really liked this play but it definitely felt like his senior thesis. The issues touched on were done in a very heavy handed yet superficial way. The show was provocative, well cast and well-designed which elevated the text.
I think Harris is more interested in being a celebrity than a writer.

I was expecting The Rose Tattoo or Ferryman.
Do we know where The Piano Lesson will be going?
