Seriously. My son and I are seriously debating whether or not to actually return after dinner
We are so disappointed... it just feels like bad fanfic.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

My daughter and I saw it and loved both parts. We are not die hard fans of the books. We have seen the movies but still not die hard fans. We got orchestra seats 6th row center because a friend couldn’t use them and glad we took the gift. We loved the show ...parts 1 and 2.

I was in tears after part 1 ended, I found it to be a feast for the eyes and quite entertaining. Part 2 is not as fun but I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself
If you're not curious what is going to happen and how everything will resolve in the second half, then there's probably not much hope of them winning you around at this point.
I get it. As a massive Potter fan, I went into Cursed Child already knowing the play and accepting of the flaws but I left fairly underwhelmed. I went back just a few days later and fell in love with it and have gone back twice more. I still don’t understand why it didn’t hit for me the first time. I think I just had it built up so much that nothing could ever compare to my expectations and going back I knew what was going to happen and loved it for what it is. This cast is truly spectacular so since you already have your tickets, go back and see what you think. I like them just about equally.
I don’t know if I would say part 2 is any better or worse than part 1. I found both parts to be about equal quality, and I enjoyed them both. That being said, part 2 is definitely much darker.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
If you are not into the story by the time part 1 is done you probably won’t be magically into it by part 2 I’m afraid... but the special effects are still pretty cool!
Honestly, I’ve seen Cursed Child a few times, the story doesn’t feel like bad fanfic, it is bad fanfic. The only thing that saves it is the stagecraft...
So many questions after the show ended... but not even good or interesting questions...
Perhaps it was having too high of an expectation going in. I'll certainly go into more detail later, and i think we'll go back....we like dark.
Now, maybe if the actors would stop the screaming.

Honestly, I’d give it a chance for part 2. I read the script when it came out and actually quite liked it.. almost went to London to see it.
When it came to broadway I got tickets right away but they weren’t until the summer. I went and honestly was feeling massively underwhelmed as well. I ended up making other plans and didn’t attend act 2 or act 3. Decided to go to act 4 as I had no other plans. I don’t know what snapped but I was mesmerized. I ended up buying much better seats a week later and I’ve been back several times since.
Now, I actually prefer part 1 as well. But I didn’t get into it until part 2 the first time so there’s hope!
(Oddly enough the screaming bothered me at first too. Especially Scorpius, as it just.. wasn’t what I imagined. Did not get the Boyle hype at first at all, but I definitely do now. His performance in particular is much stronger in part 2!)
Well, we're now at intermission, and both of us are much more involved, and liking it more.
cant wait for the tap number.

Honestly, I'm on the same boat. I've been a real dedicated fan since being a kid and was massively disappointed when I saw the play. What I always tell people is if you simply LIKE Harry Potter then you will enjoy the play. However, if you LOVE Harry Potter you can't help but dislike it.
Even putting the fanfic plot aside, the essence is all wrong too. If you are familiar with the characters, you will be delighted to see them make appearances. However, if you know them like you know your own friends, the choices they make in the play will baffle you. I understand that they're fictional characters and not real people, but JKR really fleshed these characters out over the course of thousands of pages and to see these beautiful characters reduced to one dimensional caricatures acting completely out of character is quite upsetting...
I've seen it twice and personally love both parts but I enjoy part 1 more. I think it's more magical in terms of the special effects. By part 2, it' sort of 'been there, done that' lol.
I cant say we loved it, but I am glad we went back. I would wholeheartedly agree with VotePeron's rankings.
Im not sure boring is quite the right word...bit it works.

Nicole 10 (or anyone else who wants to pipe in), can you clarify what you think the characters do that is out of character for them? I saw the show and liked it (but did not love it aside from the special effects). I am only a casual fan of Harry Potter, so I don't know the characters as in depth as you do.

Dramamama, you’re not alone. My husband and I went last year for my birthday and, besides the magic, it felt like a huge waste of our time. And we did it over the course of two nights. Thankfully, we scored the $20 tickets, so it wasn’t made worse by the ticket price. But still.
I love the books (readthem twice) and have seen tbe movies a few times each. I did not read Cursed Child as I don't like to read books in script form anymore. I knew one spoiler going in and i thought that would ruin the whole show for me. It didn't and i loved every minute of it. I took a day off to do the Wednesday marathon and plan to do it again.

I only read the books once, but I didn’t think Malfoy and Ron were good adaptations Ron in CC seemed more like his goofy twin brothers. Malfoy’s mom lied to help Harry in part 2, so I didn’t think the strong distrust was realistic. I hope that makes sense no haven’t had my coffee yet, lol
