That's been the buzz all along. As much as I respect Victoria Clark, she's never been a frontrunner to win this year.
I thought Judy Kuhn was the front runner?
My picks for who will win:
Best Play
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Best Musical
An American in Paris OR Fun Home
(Hopefully the latter, although everything I've read or seen of American In Paris since my trip looks beautiful and makes me wish I hadn't missed it, but Dallas Summer Musicals co-produced the show and they said the tour's definitely stopping there and I hope to see it!)
Best Book of a Musical
Fun Home - Lisa Kron
Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre
Fun Home, Music: Jeanine Tesori, Lyrics: Lisa Kron
Best Revival of a Play
Skylight
Best Revival of a Musical
The King and I
(Although I hope On the Twentieth Century wins!)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play
Alex Sharp, The Curious Incident...
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play
Helen Mirren, The Audience
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical
Michael Cerveris, Fun Home
(But I have a feeling Robert Fairchild for An American In Paris could get it, as well!)
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical
Kristin Chenoweth, On the Twentieth Century
(And I would have no problem seeing Kelli O'Hara win for King and I, but I think it's Kristin's for the win!)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play
Nathaniel Parker, Wolf Hall Parts One & Two
Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play
Annaleigh Ashford, You Can’t Take It with You
Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical
Christian Borle, Something Rotten! OR Andy Karl, On the Twentieth Century
(This one's a toughie for me... I am thinking one of the American In Paris guys could win it, but if they give any award to Something Rotten! it'd be this for Borle or Brad Oscar. But Andy was scene-stealing hysterical as Bruce Granit.)
Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical
Judy Kuhn, Fun Home OR Sydney Lucas, Fun Home
Best Scenic Design of a Play
Bunny Christie, Finn Ross, The Curious Incident...
Best Scenic Design of a Musical
Bob Crowley and 59 Productions, An American In Paris OR David Zinn, Fun Home(I could honestly see either one of these winning; they're so different. But I wouldn't count out Michael Yeargen for The King and I.)
Best Costume Design of a Play
Christopher Oram, Wolf Hall Parts One and Two
Best Costume Design of a Musical
Catherine Zuber, The King and I
Best Lighting Design of a Play
Paule Constable, The Curious Incident...
Best Lighting Design of a Musical
Natasha Katz, An American In Paris
Best Direction of a Play
Marianne Elliott, The Curious Incident ...
Best Direction of a Musical
Sam Gold, Fun Home
Best Choreography
Christopher Wheeldon, An American in Paris
Best Orchestrations
Chris Austin, Don Sebesky, Bill Elliott, An American in Paris

I think Barlett Sher could pull an upset and win Direction of a Musical.
I agree with you on all counts, jacob. Featured Actor in a Musical is turning out to be one of the most interesting categories. I thought it was strictly between Oscar and Karl, but then Borle won the Drama Desk (even against fellow Tony nominees). I could also see one of the AAiP boys getting swept up if a sweep happens!

Lee Seymour's predictions are a bit odd to me because he doesn't mention Fun Home in any analysis, and he failed to mention that Chenoweth has been racking up awards for her performance when he mentioned Chita Rivera was racking up awards for The Visit.
Fun Home for Best Lighting Design over an AAIP. The lighting design to that show does wonders in the storytelling.
AAIP for Best Set Design over Fun Home (even though I love the detailed simplicity of Fun Home's set - I think this one should go to AAIP).
The King & I for Best Costume Design. Hands down.

That Forbes article lost me when it said the race was between American in Paris and Something Rotten.

Lee Seymour is Michael Riedel with training wheels.
When does the NY Times Tony voters poll come out again?
giving Chita an award is NEVER a sympathy win!

Telecharge has a feature where you can vote for who you think is going to win the Best Musical Tony: http://t.co/cFmyjn5NuM
The NYT has published their Tony voter survey (44 were interviewed).
I look at the Tonys as 3 plus hours of new programming on TV when nothing else is on
It is entertaining and unlike the Oscars it is entertaining.. I hope my choices will win but I am not optimistic and I deal with it. I burn it to a cd and have a record of it.
So many people dislike AAIP, and there has always been so much great buzz for Fun Home, so WHY would AAIP win? Im just so confused. What happened?
I'm happy to see that Kelli still has a shot. She's my personal pick, but it seemed like most of the love was going to Chenoweth and Rivera.
I agree with VotePeron. I asked this in another thread but it was never addressed. I'm genuinely curious why so many people think AAIP will win. Until recently the buzz has been almost exclusively toward Fun Home, and its buzz is still quite strong. What gives AAIP the supposed edge? People cite things like the reviews, the ticket sales and nominations in favor of AAIP, but Fun Home has all of those things, plus the fact that it's so fresh and innovative.
Well, after reading the NYT anonymous Tony Voter poll, at least Cerveris is turning into a lock. I have a strong feeling Fun Home will pull it out in the end. I'm also very worried that the 4 fun home girls may walk away empty handed if Ruthie comes out of the blue, kind of like last year with Raisin.

Best Play
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Best Musical
Fun Home
Best Revival of a Play
Skylight
Best Revival of a Musical
The King And I
Best Book of a Musical
Fun Home (Lisa Kron)
Best Original Score
Fun Home (Jeanine Tesori, Lisa Kron)
Best Leading Actor In A Play
Alex Sharp-Curious Incident (Toss up between him and Boyer, Because Curious is a Shoe In for Play I wouldn't be surprised if Voters gave Hand To God this with Boyer)
Best Leading Actress In A Play
Helen Mirren-The Audience
Best Leading Actor In A Musical
Michael Cerveris-Fun Home
Best Leading Actress In A Musical
Kristin Chenoweth-On The Twentieth Century (Surprised people are contemplating this one, King and I will win Best Revival making it even easier for Chenoweth to come in with an equal, if not greater performance as O'Hara)
Best Featured Actor In A Play
Nathaniel Parker-Wolf Hall
Best Featured Actress In A Play
Annaleigh Ashford-You Can't Take It With You
Best Feautred Actor In A Musical
Max von Essen-An American In Paris (I think between Borle and Oscar splitting and AAIP being awardless so far in my predictions, this would seem to be very realistic (and equally deserving))
Best Featured Actress In A Musical
Ruthie Ann Miles-The King and I
From what I'm getting:
Fun Home will most likely win because of the originality with AAIP still having a great chance of winning.
Kelli O'Hara does indeed has a extremely strong chance of winning and beating Cheno. A tie could defientely be possible
King & I, Helen Mirren (Duh), Curious Incident, and Skylight are all guaranteed wins for the big ones
