Yes. While the performers were fantastic, it wasn't eye-opening and fresh like Great Comet. It was familiar. Maybe this will help it appeal to a more commercial audience, at least.

Thank you, PalJoey, for making this thread a lot more entertaining than the 2017 Tonys.

I enjoyed this Tony show but when Colbert started his tired schtick, I turned it off.

It just struck me that both of the original Molly Browns -- Tammy Grimes from the show and Debbie Reynolds from the movie -- were in that In Memoriam tribute. Miss them both! It was a lovely tribute altogether.

I think Midler herself is to blame as well for not performing. If she really wanted to get up there and sing "I Put My Hand In" or "So Long Dearie" Im sure she would've made it happen.

Yeah, I thought bandstand was dull.

1. Midler almost didn't get up on stage. She literally had to be dragged up there.
2. As much as I hate Rudin, she was literally talking during his speech and then someone said what looked like "watch" and she made a face, said ok and walked away.
"
Wonder what will happen in her Tony speech
"
At this point, I'm hoping she doesn't get to make one. "
I said that earlier and second it again here. I hope she loses big time. Give it to someone who is brave enough to crawl up on the stage and actually sing. Ironic since she is such an incredible live performer.
I feel for the people at home who wanted to, but will never get to see her do a number from this show. Why not "Before the Parade Passes By"?
We can only hope that someone video'd a live performance and posts it on YouTube. When I saw her, the voice seemed strained. I guess one extra number one extra day of one week will ruin her for the paying customers. What a selfish display, or lack of a display of the draw of the year on Broadway. And yes, IF she wanted to, she could have insisted on performing some number from the show. Don't bother coming back to Broadway, you no longer belong.

Yay Ben Platt! Really well-deserved, no matter what you thought about the morals/message/music of DEH.

Was still secretly hoping he and Andy Karl would tie... but so very happy for Ben Platt! Well deserved.

I love how genuinely startled Ben looked when his name was called. As if it were a surprise!
Congrats to him!
