BANDSTAND just sold a bunch of tickets. All these new musicals really know what they're doing. The revivals though....
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
The BANDSTAND company also knows how to do the Tonys. Good for them. One of the few shows that understood this night is about entertainment and letting the country see the magic of what a Broadway show can do.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Best Choreography on Broadway...Bandstand just enticed viewers to see the show!
"Anything you do, let it it come from you--then it will be new."
Sunday in the Park with George
I am on the west coast and won't see the broadcast for another half hour.
But, not surprised TGC showed so well on TV. I LOVED the energy of this show (but felt very lost through much of it). But the strength of that show would really shine on TV.
I would have given it best set design, lighting, orchestrations, even choreography, and director. The rest to DEH. And, although I did like CFA, its individual elements were outshined by DEH and TGC.
So, go ahead posters, rip into me personally, especially if you are a "legend" on here (as that seems to be the rule of posting here).
Oh yeah and (again), as everyone is saying in wake of TGC number, suck it Rudin, Hello, Dolly! and yes, even her royal highness, Ms Midler for taking away a seminal Tonys moment over your pride and fears. You have lost some luster in my opinion. I will recoin, it should be renamed HELL NO, Dolly!
Comet with by far the best performance of the night. I love all the shows nominated, but TGC performance is the only one that would make me want to see the show if I had no idea what it was.
Groban bringing some soul at the beginning, and then just pure joy after that. Loved seeing Malloy at the piano as well. Probably the only performance of the night I would say wars actually good. Well Fasettos was good too

1. Midler almost didn't get up on stage. She literally had to be dragged up there.
2. As much as I hate Rudin, she was literally talking during his speech and then someone said what looked like "watch" and she made a face, said ok and walked away.

Wonder what will happen in her Tony speech
"
At this point, I'm hoping she doesn't get to make one.
