"And the show is moving to Broadway, where there are many more tickets easily available. I get that no one likes to wait to see a show, but the entitlement of complaint of having to wait until July (horrors!) is ridiculous.
THIS. You took the words right out of my mouth, I've been curious about this as well.
I doesn't matter if you're bored by a show. You still have no right to use your brightly lit device to spoil it for others who might not feel as you do.
Some people are loving this way too much. Almost makes me think they're happy she did something this rude so they can comment on it and bring up the fact that they haven't had the luxury of seeing Hamilton yet.
Remember when everyone started getting cell phones in the late 90's, and it was considered extremely rude to take your phone out at a restaurant? You were supposed to excuse yourself and go outside or to the loo if you needed to take a call. Now people barely look across the table at each other, because their faces are buried in their phones through the entire meal. Few would consider taking out their phones in the theatre back then. Today, Broadway theatres are offering free wi-fi and letting you take your wine into the house in a sippy cup. As gross as it is, it shouldn't surprise us that this behavior is happening.
Last week she showed up at Coachella during Drake's set and sexually assaulted him , and his reaction of disgust made her headlines. This week she assaulted some guy who is a name in NY and made another headline. There's no such thing as bad publicity.
On a side note, a production of In the Heights opens here next week, & they have used some stock photos of Miranda in their publicity. Last night I had to explain to a friend that he isn't actually in this production.
Me: This guy is starring is the hottest show in NY right now
My friend: But he's taking a break for a month to come to Vancouver and do this show? That's so nice
Madonna has really been making headlines lately, and not in a good way. Clearly, she didn't want to be sitting there. I'm glad Lin called her out. Patti 2.0!
Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
It baffles me when I hear about people doing this and this is coming from someone who is obsessively connected to her devices. I have an admittedly unhealthy connection to my phone and such, and even I have no problem putting my phone away for a couple hours to watch a show. The desire to pull it out and look at it never hits me. I feel like if I can do it, anyone can. And I mean those announcements at the beginning, telling you to put your phones away aren't made just to hear themselves speak.
Celebrity entitlement. If the ubiquitous bad boy du jour Bieber did this, his dereliction would be attributed to youth-specific white male privilege . At 56, this rude performer is still capitalizing on the presumed perks of (early) fame, failing to realize that while rudeness in adolescence can be mistaken for iconoclasm, in a middle aged artist with a global career, it's simply a sad demonstration of abject narcissism.
"I'm a comedian, but in my spare time, things bother me." Garry Shandling
I don't agree with Auggie's assessment. I don't condone anyone's using their phone in a theater, whether it's Beiber, Madonna, or a stranger. Age doesn't factor in here at all. Rudeness knows no bounds, and I don't think it has different connotations in people of different ages.
Wendy Williams just did a piece on this, she called the show HAMLET. She mentioned Madonna's name many times but never mentioned what's his name's name. Guess who won?
Ok I'm a huge Madonna fan but as a playwright/director and producer I hate people texting during the show.
However I'm more appalled by some of the disgusting comments on here, a talentless hack (after her critically acclaimed recent album), using black men (give me a break), garbage, old jokes.
She text during a show (bad behaviour yes) but she didn't kill someone's cat, calm the hell down.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
"You would definitely be whistling a different tune if Madonna wasn't the perpetrator. Let's be real here. "
Well, if we REALLY want to be real, so would those who are attacking her, if it was somebody THEY loved. They would rush to find excuses from medical emergencies to trouble at home LOL It's human nature and it doesn't only apply to Madonna fans but all fans.
And I agree with songanddanceman2, what she did was unjustifiable and I don't think anyone has ever called her a nice person but calling the biggest selling female artist in history with a 30-year succesfull career, washed up and talenteless is not really a valid argument and it just shows pure hatred.
