Hugh Jackman, at the beginning of Somewhere... I liked that.
With Aretha Franklin however... not so much.
But Hugh made me reconsider my opinion that Somewhere should only be sung by a female with a high voice.

They should never do a duet again...
And what was that last note of Hugh's? (Nasty riff)

Poor Mr. Sondheim.
That was such a bad tribute to him.

They should have let Hugh sing it alone. Aretha's voice has seen better days. Maybe if she lost a couple a hundred pounds she'd be able to sing better.

I'm talking about Aretha and Hugh's assassination of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's classic "Somewhere".
Now, I love me some Aretha, just like the next fella but she sounded horrible. Hugh was fine but he did not make a good vocal blend with Franklin. It was off and very painful to watch and hear.

That was a horrible duet. Hugh and Aretha looked like they were competing rather than singing together. No interaction at all between them.

Wow, I still haven't recovered from that.
That was one of the worst performances I've ever seen at a Tonys telecast. Yuck.
Yeah, I think they should get rid of that new tradition.
First Mary J. Blige. And now this.
Ugh.

That Somewhere duet was completely pointless. I agree with whoever said the nominated shows can get more time if they don't do this ridiculous filler.
And I don't know if it was just a poor match-up but they sucked. Plus we've (TV viewers) had to listen to that song (lovely as it is when sung well) on practically every commercial.

Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:42pmLMAO. Aretha singing "I Feel Pretty". That would be classic. Especially in that dress.
