working, saving. im still young (20, if you care), and i live with my parents, so the money i get from working and saving, none of that has to go to rent or utilities, not yet.
also alot of those were student tickets, $26 a piece, so while it still totals up to alot, its not nearly as much as it would be if i were to pay full price every time, which i only did for the very first time i saw it.

Besides the usher, I'm just gonna say it: you all are really rich, like standing during shows or damn lucky with lottos...I mean, 30 times? Out of your own wallet? I don't even know many people who have seen regular movies in theatres that many times and that only costs 6-10 bucks!...
EDIT: Well, I got my answer earlier than expected... Updated On: 2/12/07 at 12:40 AM

"I just want a story and a few good songs that will take me away. I just want to be entertained. I mean, isn't that the point?"

No...I first saw Les Miz over 11 years ago, when I was still a teenager. A lot of those were treats from my parents.
The majority of the rest of those were sitting in the obstructed view box seats at the Curran Theatre in SF.

For the most part I have seen every show at least 2 times, if I liked it but only two shows had me coming back to NYC over and over again and I live in Harrisburg, PA:
The Wedding Singer: 5 times Rent: 4 (doesn't count 2 traveling productions I have seen of it)
I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity**
Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer**
Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!
I have seen a few shows more than once; the habit has started now that I live in NY and rush makes things so accessible.
And to respond to the money issue, I am by no means rich, just a college student whose work-study money goes almost straight to shows. You squeeze and stretch your budget: two shows this week? Alright, I'll eat cereal and Ramen. Sometimes it's fine, other times it is a problem; I'm currently in a recession because I went a little crazy on the viewing last semester (I used to be uber-frugal, but got tired of being so careful and just said "Screw it!"), but you make mistakes and learn to budget. It is definitely an investment, but without a doubt a worthwhile one. I estimate that I spend no more at the theatre than my peers do weekly on alcohol and at the same tired college bars. I would say that my money is better spent.

and it just so happens I do paint them green. Well, if anyone should ask me why, I say: 'I think it's pretty!'"
The only shows I've seen way too many times that I've lost count are:
ANNIE (original Broadway run) SUNSET BLVD. CABARET Revival (both at the Henry Miller/Kit Kat Klub & Studio 54) CHICAGO Revival (Richard Rodgers, Shubert & Ambassador) THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
If you count how many shows I've 2nd Acted for the past several decades, the list would run pages.
Sure, even with rush and lottos the cost adds up. But we all certainly have money to spend on entertainment or luxury or whatever you want to call it, we just make choices on how to spend it. For me, I choose shows. I hardly ever go clothes shopping, only when absolutely necessary--I mean think about how much money teenage girls spend on clothes? I've had the same winter jacket for 6 years, the same bookbag for 4, etc. I get almost all of my college textbooks at the library--there's a couple hundred I save a semester. I don't drink alcohol at all, so my friends have helped me to realize I don't spend a lot of money that they do on drinks. I very rarely go to the movies, and well, you get the point.
I'm not saying anyone can do this or that I'm not lucky to be able to do this, but it's never so simple as to just assume people are quite rich.
Oh and I guess I'll just admit mine on the subject
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels=27x
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Same here. I don't have much interest in movies, very little interest in video games, I don't like shopping for clothes so I only do it when I really have to... and I don't look at porn, either.
