anyone got a count so far i think Fun Home and An American In Paris are tied at 3 a piece right now?

"Where does Kristen Chenoweth get all that energy?"
I saw Kristin on the Today Show, Seen Kelli live and she is amazing performer. I just think Kristin is doing a very difficult role.

"At this point Fun Home is a lock for best musical as it won best score, book and direction by Sam Gold."
If only this were true, but is still can go in other directions.

So, Chita could win, huh?

I don't think these "medley" numbers are doing these shows any favors. So far, both FUN HOME and SOMETHING ROTTEN have created the greatest impression, and those were single number performances.
I don't know that ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY and (especially) AMERICAN IN PARIS showed themselves in the most positive light by going the medley route. [The medley for KING & I was at least understandable, due to the familiarity of the piece.]

that makes actually alot of sense. The Industry loves Kander and Ebb and would want to give them something

Medleys so rarely work on the Tonys, and I agree that shows that chose a single number came off better than the shows that chose to do medleys.
That being said, while I haven't seen An American in Paris and don't know what they should've done, I DO think it was a smart decision to start with the pas de deux and build to a large ensemble number. I think On the Twentieth Century tried to fit too much into their number, but I think everything has come across better than The King and I. (I also thought South Pacific had a weak Tony performance, though.)

I'm running behind, and I just saw Ruthie Ann Miles win the Tony. I'm speechless. I naturally assumed Sydney or Judy would win, this is crazy.

Agreed.

Curious incident deserved that win, but for ****s sakes AMERICAN PRODUCERS WAKE UP!!!! START PRODUCING MORE ORIGINAL AMERICAN WORK ON BROADWAY!!!!
Posted: 6/7/15 at 9:54pm
Another number I wouldn't have chosen. *Sigh* But Chita sold it the best she could.
Posted: 6/7/15 at 9:54pm
Um, that performance from The Visit was actually terrible.

The National Theater produces so many great plays. But The American Government and Producers need to give grants to things that could work.

The Visit actually surprised me. I liked it more than I thought I would. But, it definitely is one of the weaker performances for me.

An example where the 3 FH nominees split the vote and cancelled each other out. But Ruthie Ann Miles is a very deserving winner, in my opinion

I honestly think THE VISIT should have just done "Love and Love Alone". Throwing in "I Will Never Leave You" really cocked up what could have been a beautiful performance.

The Theater Talk panel basically predicted that Ruthie Ann Miles would win, so it's not a HUGE surprise, but a lovely one. She delivers a stunningly understated performance.

That performance for The Visit was quite bad... Thankfully I already saw it because I would have been put off.

Yeah, The Visit was bizarre IMO.
