I like the idea of Billy Porter or John Mulaney, but I could see them going for James Corden (again) or Stephen Colbert. I also thought fleetingly of Hugh Jackman, despite his mixed reviews of his hosting job last time, who could amp up the enthusiasm for the Music Man even further.
I’d be okay with no one as long as they don’t go the Oscars route and substitute for having no host by adding unnecessary “bits” that make the show run longer. LOL. I’m guessing that since it’s a live show celebrating live theater, they feel the need to have a host on stage.
The Tony Awards are never going to attract a high number of viewers, but I’m thinking Mulaney might be too obscure as great as he would be. I’m guessing it’ll be Corden or Colbert or someone else who might attract a wider demographic. I’d love it to be Audra or Bette.
Porter seems like a very natural choice at this point, but Mulaney would also be fantastic.
The show will never garner huge ratings even with megastars hosting (and hosts don’t actually get paid that much) so I think they might at well just go for one of them

Bloom would be great but I thought they had an unsaid rule about host always being someone who had been on Broadway. Agree with suggestions here but yeah... they're likely super busy unless the planning has started already
Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
My choice would be Stephen Colbert, he's on CBS and it's an election year. He would be absolutely perfect, I don't know why he hasn't done it yet. I also like the idea of Billy Porter, John Mulaney, and Lin Manuel, Tiny Fey, Rachel Bloom, and Kathy Griffin. I feel like they should also bring back Neil Patrick Harris at some point or even Rosie O'Donnell.

You seem to think that all of these people are simply waiting for the call. Perhaps, like some others here, you think this is just a show up kinda gig; it is not: it is a LOT of work and of course for anyone not NY-based, a lot of time away from home/work. Being Colbert, as an example, is a more than full-time job. And hosting an awards show is also a job that has a relatively high risk of failure.
