I was hoping for Joel Grey, but at least Goldblum can sing.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

They must’ve misread the memo when we asked for “JG” to play The Wizard!

Joking aside, Jeff will be excellent in the role. Can’t wait. Now hopefully we get our Morrible soon!

I had the thought that maybe they’d release a teaser photo or poster (even if it’s just of Ariana and Cynthia or just a logo) this Christmas, a year out from the first film."

Though I share your enthusiasm, this year's Christmas will mark two years (not one) from the release of the first film. This December will be Christmas of 2022, and the first film is scheduled for release around Christmas 2024, the second part during Christmas 2025. So, we've got a bit to go!

Was Jeff Goldblum ever rumored for The Wizard before now? Andre De Shields was being heavily rumored, and that seems to not be the case anymore. Likewise, we were hearing Charlie Puth, Jordan Fisher, and a couple other circling Fiyero. Jonathan Bailey was never mentioned until the day he was announced. So far the announcements have been people who weren't being heavily rumored. Makes me think that Morrible will not be Hannah Waddingham. I hope its Glenn Close.

I feel like there's been a pretty fine line between people who have been rumored and people who are just fan-cast.  Like someone will mention someone like Jordan Fisher and everyone thinks it's a great idea so it circulates, but I don't know if there was ever any substance behind it.

I didn’t realize until earlier this year what a good actor Jeff Goldblum actually is, or can be. Sort of like Christopher Walken or Al Pacino, he’s content to play the trope of himself: quirky, eccentric, neurotic and a little bit fey. But I think Goldblum in The Fly is the male equivalent of Toni Colette in Hereditady: he just GOES THERE in a performance both masterful and deeply gross.

Okay maybe Jordan Fisher was more of a fancast. But weren't there legitimate rumblings not long ago about Andre De Shields, Ethan Slater, and Hannah Waddingham being in this? And I think Charlie Puth was about the same level as Fiyero.

In this day and age, one idea presented on the internet can quickly take flight and become a 'serious' rumor. I doubt Andre Shields was ever being seriously considered. He is not a film name. And I think the Hannah Waddingham rumour started when she posted something on her social media that was probably intended to insinuate HOCUS POCUS 2 (witches) and was interpreted as being a blind code for WICKED.

I was not fooled one bit by that Tweet. But i figure there is a reason why the supporting casting has been quiet this past year until now. And i wish everyone good luck.
